Hello. Iam planning to purchase a Clevo D900F from the marketplace. I decided on this laptop because I like the desktop processing power and I do not want dual GPU formats as I have had bad experience with them. I also prefer the look on the D900F compared to X7200. Please review this link hxxp://www.mxm-upgrade.com/D900F.html Installation of 6970 with some modifications to the heatsink. What about Bios support? How can you install 6970 without any official Bios support for the GPU? I contacted MXMupgrade but have not received an answer.

I also have a doubt regarding my purchase. I'm from Sweden and I want to avoid import duties. How can I make this happen?

Can not a single person answer this question? How can you install a GPU with bios support? Someone should know.

Without bios support, it will be almost impossible to even boot up your laptop with the gpu installed. The only way people have done similar things in the past, is with a modified bios created by a person to specifically allow the use of a certain gpu. I do not know of any person that has a 6970m in their D900F.

I don't know about BIOS support, but when you are sure that the card is compatible and you want to buy the card with much cheeper price without duties, PM me :)

I think if your laptop originally comes with a ATI card then more than likely you will have support for other ATI cards. Contact MXM Upgrade to find out.

There is no reason MXM upgrade would know more than anyone else who has tried it.
I believe Eurocom may have made a custom BIOS? not sure.

When it comes to duties. I get around it by asking the seller seting the price on the package under 200kr you dont have to pay any duties on anything that cost less then 200kr in norway. Check your duties limits. That has worked for me. I would think labling it as a gift should do it too. Havent tested that.

I had already purchased the laptop. It should be here next week. The seller was nice to put it as gift. We will see what happens. Is this custom eurocom bios available to the public? Would they give it to me if I contacted them?

I doubt a custom BIOS exists. AFAIK, MXM-upgrade managed it without BIOS editing. I'd try to contact them again. They usually answer with a delay.

Theoretically the BIOS is not needed to support the card directly... it only needs a way to get and load the vbios from the GPU.
The idea is that every MXM card could work in a system that is physically compatible with the corresponding MXM type...

As most manufacturers don't strictly apply to the MXM standards this is unfortunately not the rule. However there are cases where it works nevertheless. For example the Alienware M15x can be upgraded to the 6970m even though the card isn't officially supported.
The D900F can take this card as well, as you've seen on the MXM-upgrade site.
