Okay, so just 15 minutes ago while playing Modern Warfare 3 (for only 10 minutes) my laptop did the automatic shut down thing again.

After the first shut down I went out to office depot and bought some compressed air to clean out the fans which helped a lot with the temps. So I thought, okay problem solved...

Then after the second time some of you suggested unplugging my cooler master from the USB port so I did and didn't have any trouble up until like 15 minz ago.

The temps looked normal. And just as a precaution I've been using the Fn + 1 so the fans are blasting at full to avoid any overheating. But suddenly it just happened again while playing MW3 (which isn't even graphically demanding) after only playing the game for like 10 minutes. I honestly don't understand what's going on with this machine, but it's starting to get me worried. Any thoughts/advice/suggestions? Please let me know! Thank you.

what spec have you got especially graphics card and what drivers are you running.

when you say automatic shutdown do you meanwindows sound, screen dims, and then logs out or just total dead switch off.

the more info you give the more we can help.

Well my specs are in my signature pic thingy. And I have the most current AMD drivers. And yes I think it's a Windows shut down because when I restart it asks me if I want to restart in safe mode.

He mean hard shutdown, computer will switch off suddenly with no reason.
It's not a windows shutdown if in one second your screen go off, fan off, computer off.
Windows ask for safe mode, because the computer is not shutdown correctly.

Okay so I played a full round of team death match without the power cable and the only thing I really noticed is that my frame rate went down terribly. I went from 100% to 82% but I imagine that's normal. So does this count out the possibility of a power issue?

If you were able to play without the AC adapter connected, albeit laggy, it may be something on the mainboard for voltage regulation that is failing or the AC adapter itself. I would recommend another round or two on just battery and timing it to see if it shuts down at all for the entire life of the battery. If it doesn't shutdown at all on battery (save for battery getting low) then it would definitely indicate something wrong with previously mentioned items.

The drain on the battery is going to be expected because you are running a demanding program on the graphics card (not that MW3 is top tier for graphics but you get the idea).

When your laptop shuts down, are you able to power it on immediately? Does it beep at all after powering up from the sudden shutdown?

How thorough were you with the compressed air? Don't be shy with opening the laptop and removing the fans to blow the dust off of the heatsinks. ;)

Well basically all I did was remove the back panel and blow air directly into the fans. Actually the first time I did that some serious dust came out but there is still a fine dust left on the fans which seems very hard to get off. I just left it there. Should I have removed it? But I always have PCUID Monitor running while I'm gaming and I've noticed very good temps lately.

You're saying I should literally remove the fans from the laptop and clean them?

And yes I can power it back on immediately, and I don't recall hearing a beep, but I could be wrong.

Dust can still be trapped on between heatsinks and the fans, certainly. I believe the fans can be removed without requiring you to remove anything else so you can really get in there and make sure all of the dust is removed.

If you have been monitoring your temps and you say they have been fine lately then I don't think it would be a thermal shutdown issue.

Again, run it while gaming a few more times on battery to see if you have issues.

Also, does it only shutdown while gaming or can you be doing other tasks to get it to shut down?

You may have hairs and long peices of debris that can't be blown out through the radiator no matter how much pressure you blast through the fans. It's better to blow air through the exhaust. That way, the debris will come out the same way it came it.

You most likely have bad hardware. I would call MALIBAL and get an RMA started.

Yea so far it's only happened while gaming :/

Which sucks because this is why I bought this thing. I just don't want something small to turn into something big in the future. That's why I'd like to solve this problem asap.

What do you mean by RMA? I actually opened a ticket but I'm still waiting for an answer.

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization -- basically the beginning of the process for sending the unit back to be repaired or replaced.

Ah okay, well I've been talking to the rep from Malibal and he seems to believe that it's still a overheating problem but I guess we'll see.

By the way, is there any instructional video or something like that in order to know how to remove the fans so I can clean the "heatsink" without screwing up my system?

You don't need a video, once the back is off, you can see the screws holding in the fans. Doesn't take long.
