I made a topic similar to this awhile ago(with no replies) stating that some games appears broken in fullscreen mode. This was fixed at first by installing the older driver.

However the problem came back randomly last night. I realized that this isn't exclusive just to games but it happens when the screen resolution changes to anything below 1440x1050. So naturally, when older games run fullscreen at a lower resolution, the screen appears to look broken like the picture here:

This is the picture of my desktop at 1280x1024

I've tried reinstalling the older drivers again that fixed this problem previously but it won't go away anymore.

One interesting thing I noticed while testing this with my LCD TV in clone mode was that this problem only happens on the laptop screen alone; the screen looks intact on the TV. This makes me believe that there is a conflict with the screen and the ATI drivers. The display looks normal with the drivers uninstalled.

Another thing I noticed was that the laptop name under the screen resolution menu/Catalyst control center is "LG TV", pictured below:

Note that the name doesn't change even when it isn't connected to the TV.

Any help will be appreciated. I can't even play some of my old games because of this issue.

Something is corrupted in the drivers. I had a similar issue where it would not return the image to may laptop screen but only to the external monitor. Even after reinstalling driver I had a problem. Its a tricky issue but you need to keep searching the settings untill you find whats wrong. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Ah, thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. It's good to know that I'm not the only person having some kind of issue with the driver.

I am 80% sure that this problem is caused by the laptop's screen being labeled as LG TV. What's odd is that when I go into the Device Manager settings and look under monitor, it simply says "Generic PnP Device" so no matter how many times I uninstall the driver, nothing happens.

The LG TV property disappears once I uninstall the Catalyst drivers.

First two weeks and I'm having so many specific problems with this laptop that no one else seem to have knowledge on. Just my luck.
