On my Malibal P170HM I use the same Mic as on my old Asus laptop. Also Windows 7 x64 Prof.. just like before. But Somehow the microphone is too quiet. I have the volume at 100 and the boost at 30 ! If I decrease the boost to 20 then the Mic won't work at all. This problem occurs with the internal as well as with the external microphone. Plus there is a lot of backround "crisping". Both smth which I didn't have on my old laptop.

I use the latest Realtek driver.. any ideas? The backround noise wouldn't bee too much of a problem (i can remove it with the "noise supression" altough I will sound like a robot then) but having no real microphone volume at all is very bad. Trying to learn a language with Rosetta Stone is quiet impossible cause it won't hear me saying anything. I also believe that the backround noise comes because of the high boost level. I once had that problem on my asus (volume was set to 20 and boost to 30).. so there I was able to increase the volume and decrease the boost.. However on the P170HM I need both on max to even hear a little bit.

    Thanks

Your mic shouldn't be having that problem. Especially the "Crisping" you're describing.

The mic hasn't suffered any recent trauma has it?

Try contacting Malibal. See if you're still under warranty.

Nope.. the mic should be just fine. Actually I think the crisping comes from the high "boost level".. it is normal that with boost lvl 30 it starts to sound weird.. but without such an high boost the mic would be just too quiet.

Well in my case it doesn't matter.. both the external and the internal mic are too quiet. Actually the internal one (which is crap compared to my external one) performs better oO
