You can use the hdmi or dvi ports to hook up an external monitor. You don't need an adapter. Also, please note that these are not identical configurations. Our RAM is 2 X 4GB... leaving two memory slots available for future upgrades... the Xotic configuration is 4 X 2GB. This makes a big difference in price. In addition, our RAM Promotion doesn't add any time to the order process. Xotic advertises on their site that their RAM deal adds to the build time - so that's another difference. :)

If you want to run more then one external display you would need a separate adapter, the laptop itself supports 1 External Display. :)

Both XoticPC and Malibal have great reputations here at NBR. To be frank, you probably can't go wrong with either of them.

Since it ended up that the prices are identical for your configuration, you are honestly going to have to flip a coin or search for some other reason to choose one of the resellers over the other.

    tl, dr: Both are great.

1 vote for Malibal... just because of the RAM config.

Wish I would've known about these companies a few months ago.

If you live in California or on the west coast, I say Malibal.

If you live near Nebraska or on the east coast, I say Xoticpc.

It really is that simple :D

Sager is in California, and if Xotic doesn't do any upgrades for you, it never even goes to them, so your argument is ruled out.

But Xoticpc still ship from Nebraska doesn't it? Yes but most likely he will upgrade it cause I don't know anyone that just bought it bare bone or without any upgrade to it.

Yes, Xotic is in Nebraska. I bought mine with a slight change from stock (changed a HDD to SSD) and it came right from Sager.

That is true Scar... unless a Sager Reseller is adding a custom part like a screen upgrade (which will add even more time to the order process) or the customer is in California - all Sager branded notebooks ship directly from Sager in California to the customer - so we can deliver a notebook to the east coast just as fast as any Sager Reseller. :)

[x] Doesn`t matter who you choose
    [x] Both are excellent
[x] Funny to watch to resellers fight for their customers in this thread
    [ ] Checkboxes is boring
[?] Checkboxes is against the rule
[?] I should have used "are" instead of "is" on the two checkboxes above
[x] English is not my native language
    [x] Too many checkboxes

Well as you can see in my sig, I went with MALIBAL. I can't speak much for customer service in terms of getting repairs or replacements (since I haven't needed any) or about build quality (because I just ordered and won't get my laptop for about a week), but when it comes to customer service for buying from them, they definitely made it easy! After ordering from them I came here and PMed MALIBAL. Apparently there was a slight issue with my e-mail being undeliverable and it was very easy to get that sorted out. (Not MALIBAL's fault, I blame psu.edu for their cruddy e-mail provider...)

    But yeah, I say MALIBAL!
And if you are like me and plan to upgrade RAM in the future, getting the 2 x 4gb is much better than the 4 x 2gb because you already have two slots open for upgrading. If you wanted to self-upgrade to 16gb ram you would only need 2 more sticks at 4gb for the MALIBAL but you would need to buy 4 sticks at 4gb for the one from Xotic.

I suggest say you rename this thread to "which one have the most customers" instead

If you live in California, it ships to them to avoid the CA sales tax. Adds close to a week in shipping time.

Take a quarter, decide who is heads and who is tails, then flip saying this ancient Osage Indian chant:

All equal decisions, great or small, this little quarter decides them all....

Those sale tax alone is why I'll never shop at new egg ever again even if it better than tiger direct. I hate sale tax, so much more expensive than shipping.

I don't know if the matte screen counts as a custom upgrade or not, but my notebook shipped from Las Vegas, NV--not California. It still only took 2 days to arrive in northern California though.

Oh, I forgot to say I bought from Malibal. They had the best pricing for me, and the sales/customer service people answered all my questions. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my laptop/Malibal.
