I still have a year and a half of warranty left on the laptop but soon I'll be living in Spain indefinitely. When I bought the laptop I chose to have it serviced in the US under warranty repair, so if there are problems while I'm overseas do I just ship it back or how does that work?

You can ship back the entire laptop or just a part for service or replacement. Your coverage is still the same, the only difference is that you have to pay the shipping costs.
