The two main differences are the screens and GPUs. For those that have the 120hz 3D screen. How nice is it? Tried 3D? Was yours calibrated? Does it have the ghosting? How nice is the GTX 580 compared to the 6990m? Any opinions on each build as a whole? Appreciate any feedback thanks!

My experience with 120hz screens is that they make everything far smoother, and I'll never go back to 60/72hz screens on my desktop again. That being said, I have unusual eyes apparently, as most people can't tell the difference.
As far as the 580m, NVidia's drivers alone would make it worth it to me. -
Yea I agree and my perspective is the 580 is "subsidized" by the $135 discount of the screen. Also, does anyone know if the 120hz is active while playing games in 2D or does it activate only when its 3D?

I'd go with malibal's config.
-
You'll run at 120hz regardless of whether or not 3D content is being displayed. This means if you can push very high framerates, motion will be a lot smoother. I find this a huge benefit on FPSs such as Counter Strike. Outside of FPSs, you'll just probably see less general graphical lag (such as oldschool mice trails)

I would go with malibal's as well.
I am currently pricing the 17 and the screen really does act as a nice subsidy towards the 580M. I would update the wireless to the 1103 or the INTC 6300. -
I most likely will go with the 3D config. Waiting for an actual owner of the 3D screen to post somethin

LOVE the 3D/120hz of my P170HM3, only downside is that the bios does not allow for the use of Intel XTU. (mem-timings, cpu speed, undervolting...etc.)
Apart from that i can highly recommend the 120hz version! -
Nice! Yea i read about that XTU setback but I don't need it so its all good

ati drivers
Malibal- 120hz 3D 72% gamut free upgrade ends today. Need advice if I should pull the trigger
