I would like to buy a new Satori P170HM but am wondering if it is worth waiting a month for Black Friday.

what is black friday?
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
You've gotta ask the reseller Malibal if they'll give you that discount or not.
But first you have to get your post count up to 5. It's at 1 right now.
Then you can PM them with specific questions
Mr. Mysterious -
zakazak: I don't know if is a serious question or not, but on the off chance it is, Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the US and offers promotional sales in almost everything.
Mr. Mysterious: Thanks for the response I guess this makes post #2. -
based on zakazak's profile, he's not based on the US of A and me neither. In my country we don't have a black friday nor a thanks giving day so its very possible that someone not located in USA doesn't know it.
But I'll be interested in a black friday promo as well
-
Same here! -
Hi, you don't have to wait, because we have a new Low Price Protection Guarantee for the holidays, which allows you to purchase anytime from now until Dec 31st, with the assurance that you'll receive the lowest price of the Holiday Season!
Here's how it works: if the price for an already-shipped notebook decreases before December 31st, 2011, we'll refund the difference in price back to the customer.

I wish I knew that before I bought elsewhere.
-
hi,
Does malibal offer ocz ssd? I did not see it on their site. Plus I think their site is having problems simce i got service unavailable message.
Thxs -
Black friday is the friday after USA's thanksgiving which is on the 24th of November. Many stores have big door buster sales, really cheap tv, computers etc, usually in limited number(usually nothing spectacular sales wise). Also online retailers in the US run some great deals, another day is cyber monday which occurs the monday after thanksgiving, usually online retailers offer some nice deals on electronics in the US. So maybe keep an eye out on US retailers that ship to europe and you might get a good deal.
On black friday there can even be stampedes for so called deals, people have been killed or seriously injured. -
Does this apply to price matching as well? If someone else offered a much bigger discount, will you price match it and refund the difference?
-
This may have sold me on Malibal vs other retailers. :>
-
Wow, what a great policy! That makes my decision on a reseller a lot easier.
-
yeah i'm hoping other resellers are able to offer the same thing.
-
Yes, it does - but it has to be identical specs and warranty - of course.
-
As long as most of you realize that this is a price war among resellers that has just begun...not boutique dealers and system integrators. I also like the fact that Malibal admitted "- but it has to be identical specs and warranty - of course" which many of you need to heed that warraning before having the resellers or any other companies try and price match. Some of the configurators leave out Operating Systems and other basics to further deflate their price. So buyers looking at price only, do your homework please =)
-
I like Malibal very much since they offer a good selection of keyboard languages and power cords. I also appreciate the fact that they sell without OS. I dislike that they don't offer the PH80H with dual 6990M and internal bluetooth unlike others and that the price of applying ic diamond is $40!
-
My favorite part of Black Friday is the stampedeing mobs that trample people to death for that spiffy sweater at 90% off.
On Topic:
It is really nice that Malibal would offer that kind of price protection to their customers. It is really hard selecting a reseller\system builder when they are all so damn good! Also customer service is outstanding with them all, and I have heard zero complaints about customers who have RMA'd a machine with them. Do other resellers offer these kinds of deals I wonder aloud with such a vague aim at who I am asking... -
I like this, I already have windows keys that I can get from school or friends who work in IT.
-
Is this done automatically or only if the customer brings it up?
-
I would imagine the customer would have to bring it up. A business rarely is jumping on opportunities to toss back money to the customer lol. Not saying it like they are greedy but business is in fact business.
I would be tickled though if this where not the case though! -
Hi, it is only done if the customer brings it up - as there is no proper way to monitor every price change for orders placed in the next 2 1/2 months.

Malibal, I think if you advertised it many more people would come your way.
-
Look at hotblack's avatar and repeat after me, If you advertise it, they will come.
-
Hmmm malibal or xoticpc
-
exactly what i'm trying to make up my mind about, i have all the specs, all thats keeping me now would be shipping costs. leaning malibal atm, we'll see though
-
Hi, you can get Free Shipping for being an NBR member - please PM us for details.
-
will do! after i get 5 posts...
-
I bought the P170HM on 10/17. I'll probably get it in a week or 2. I checked prices between Malibal and Xoticpc (Sager unit) and found Malibal to be about $50 cheaper for equivalent laptops. Malibal customer service is pretty good, I ordered at 2:30 AM and still found someone online to help me with the purchase.
-
I just PMd Malibal from here. Send them a PM and they will tell you all the discounts they offer.
-
Any chance of me getting a discount from my order in August
..Nah, I kid. But I think you should go ahead. Malibals great for laptops and have great customer service, I got the lowest price for my laptop and couldn't be happier!
-
Eh It's worth a try, I want to know if I can get discount as well but I bought mine at the end of September ... still waiting for it to get here though
-
Whoa great policy, I was going to ask the same thing.
I guess I'll definitely buy from Malibal now. -
Now just to get all the Malibal / xcoticpc and others to have shipping same as powernotebooks.com have before checkout, before register and also list if on 8170 the 2nd hard drive caddy is there even though there is no hard drive selected then I would buy without a doubt.
This is the main road block for my personal and corporate bulk purchases so far.
Would be nice is Sager would "throws us a bone" on the X7200 replacement, before Dec2011 or after. -
Hi, there is a link on our cart page that lets you get the exact shipping rates before registering or checking out. Also, our P170HM includes everything you need to install your own 2nd hard drive.
-
I believe the Sager/Clevo models dont support another SSD but intel. This is because intel is the only company not using the sandforce controller.
I may be wrong, please feel free to correct me. -
They support a variety of SSD's including some based on Sandforce, we have worked with our Partner Patriot Memory to create special firmware that better supports the clevo line and thats what allows us to offer those drives. But yea, there are more than just the intel's that are supported.

Intel drives are highly recommended because of the performance and reliability, but other SSD's are definitely useable. Crucial and Kingston drives have been listed here as well. The only real issue that I've seen ongoing is the OCZ Vertex series, but that may no longer be the case after the latest firmware update.
Intel is the way to go if you want a pretty much guaranteed hassle free SSD, but it's not the only way
-
Dear Malibal,
I'm also interested in ordering a Satori P170HM3 - actually reordering, since I was one of the victims of Kobalt... I've also been a "long time" NBR reader (great community, should have listened to them...), but a first day poster...
How do you handle European warranties? And since Nvidia presented the new 3D Glasses v2, when do you guys plan to offer it - perhaps I should skip the current goggles, and order them later?
Best, Jay -
If we ordered this week with the 6990m in it will we be getting a $100 refund? The site is updated saying you guys have reduced the price to $145. I ordered when it was $245 just yesterday. I could sure put that extra $100 on an ssd or something else.
-
Yes, you can, I'd be surprised if they didn't give you $100.
Or at least you can cancel and always reorder..
-
It's already been taken care of Ryan.
-
I would never doubt the active resellers here on these forums..
As always!
-
Yes, thank you guys at Malibal, can't wait to receive the notebook!
-
Nice. How long is the discount for the 6990 going to last? Looking to buy a malibal soon too
-
So I assume with the price guarantee through the end of the year, technically the discounted 6990 price will last til New Years?
-
Just chiming in here for those asking about OCZ SSDs... I ordered a MALIBAL NINE and installed my own two OCZ Vertex3 MAXIOPS 120GBs in Raid 0 plus the 750GB spinner already installed... and contrary to what some people have said about chipset conflicts, my setup has worked like a charm running pretty much 24/7 with above average load (I write seismic interpretation software) and lots of read write.
-
PM sent regarding this same issue. Would appreciate a response!
-
same here
-
They are also having a $20 off special on the monitor calibration so they cut a total of $120 off the total
Malibal: Buy now or wait until Black Friday
