Choose 500gb hdd as main and add an option for optical bay HDD caddy.

    Buy a SSD from newegg.

When you get the laptop, relocate the 500gb HDD to optical caddy and install your own SSD.

Most companies make their money on the extras. It's not the car, but the accessories and the extended warranty. If you want to apply ICE thermal paste, buy your SSD separately and provide your own OS, it will be cheaper than paying a reseller to do it for you.
