Does the HD 6970m support 3D? I'm trying to decide if I should get a 3D matte screen or just a regular matte screen. If it doesn't support 3D, the only reason for getting the 3D screen would be for the 120mhz, I think. So, in that case, do I go for the 3D just for the double Mhz or do I wait for the non-3D matte screens to re-surface?

AMD Radeon HD 6970m does support 3D, but not the same solution as Nvidia choose.
So i guess thats why only the Nvidia GTX 485m is the only card shipped with the Sager / Clevo 3D model.

Still 120 Hz screens are kewl, but since i found out i got the best matte screen option for my Clevo P170HM i dont think im gonna "upgrade".

You'll find many more games supported with an Nvidia card. AMD doesn't really put any effort into 3D and I don't understand why. The hardware supports it but AMD doesn't put out any software for it. You have to use 3rd party solutions like iZ3D and get your own glasses and cobble together your own setup. iZ3D isn't bad, but it's a 3rd party company that doesn't have the support and clout of Nvidia behind it. http://www.iz3d.com/

Nvidia puts a lot more effort into marketing 3D surround as a whole package with hardware and driver support and constant updates.

I suggest seeing if the games you want to play are supported by iZ3D first.

I don't really care about gaming in 3D, I just want to know if I can watch movies in 3D, and it looks like I can. Thanks. I already have the 6970, btw.

The integrated IR emitter is probably the nVidia one, though. There's a good chance it won't work with an ATI card.
