    Hey guys,

    The Question
I was about to order a Clevo p150hm with the regular glossy screen, and then i found out about the matte 95% gamut version. I have never had a matte screen before.

I called up the reseller and they said they can add it in for an extra $100. The question: is it worth it for my needs?

    My Needs
I will be using it for gaming allot, that's why i am purchasing this laptop as opposed to a cheaper one. Most of the time i am busy as a student and play casually but during the breaks, when i'm not working, i can get up to allot of gaming. Also i watch movies and TV series on my laptop regularly.

    Also to Consider
Would it be better to order the glossy and know that i can always send it back an upgrade it later (i assume i can do this with logical blue one)? Also to consider is that if i decide the screen is really that important to me later down the track i can always get myself a nice monitor.

    So, is it worth $100?

    Thanks!

This question has come up a few times, but I'd definitely look at the options in the link below:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-between-different-screen-options-photos.html

You'll be able to compare stock with the upgraded screen. But basically, if you're gaming and doing general media consumption work- you won't notice a difference as much. It's a critical upgrade for those that do color sensitive work, sure. However, you'd probably have more noticeable improvement by using that $100 for say, an SSD- which would give an immediate performance benefit.

However, if you have the money and find the difference worth it from the above thread- then go right ahead. It's really all personal preference to be honest.

Nope, the 15" models with the 1920x1080 screen use the B156HW01 screens - V.0 60% color gamut for glossy, V.1 for Matte. The 17" uses LP173WF1 screens for both glossy and matte at 72% color gamut.

Upgrades for both are the V.4 95% color gamut for the 15", or a totally different screen (B173HW01 ) V.4 90% for the 17". The 17" upgrade isn't *quite* as nice.

Do you want your games to look beautiful and vibrant?

    Of course it's worth $100.

Heh, you are making me reconsider. Hmm..

EDIT: I will go with the Matte 95, seeing as the difference for the 15" Clevo is 60% to 95%.

That's a good choice. Upgrading to the 90% on the 17" really showed me that I've taken for granted, how important a good LCD is to my enjoyment of games and movies.

Better viewing angles, brightness, color reproduction, and contrast ratio.

Oh wow then a screen upgrade might be more worthwhile on the 15 inchers. I am not completely happy with my stock 17" screen but its decent.

sure it's worth a 100$. for me personally, unless you have a vibrant and colorfull screen there is no way i enjoy my gaming. so go for it)

I think its definitely worth it one of the best mobile screens I've ever seen, comparable to the professional grade IPS panels we have at work.

So the matte option is automatically the 95% gamut screen? There's not 2 versions of the matte screen are there?

I'm thinking of ordering the Clevo P151HM and it seems that it ships out with this display - 15.6" Full HD 16:9 Wide screen (1920x1080) LED-Backlit Display with Matte Finished Screen.

Is it safe to assume that this is the 95% gamut screen? If so, i'll pull the trigger and buy it.

No, the Matte ntsc 95% gamut screen is an upgrade. The default matte screen is 60% gamut. In total there are four screens:

    v0 B156HW01 – 60% gamut glossy (default glossy screen)
    v1 B156HW01 – 60% gamut matte (default matte screen)
v4 B156HW01 – 95% gamut matte (now half price but with risk of one dead/stuck pixel from Logical Blue One)
    v7 B156HW01 – 95% gamut glossy (*new*)

My personal choice is the v7 :).

    Hope this helps.

The $45 Special on the 95% Upgraded Screens isn't exclusive to Sager. Other Clevo Resellers are offering it as well. :)

Before you all make you're purchases let me give you a little background to this discount.

The matte 95% gamut display are now short on stock and resellers are ordering in a new option in the glossy 95% gamut display. Basically, the resellers are selling off the last of their matte screen which have not been fully tested for half the price. In the fine print you will find that it may be that the screen has one dead/stuck pixel. It is a great option if you need to save the money so long as you don't mind the added risk of defect.

Look at my reseller as an example and be sure to read the fine print at the bottom: Logical Blue One - MATTE DISPLAY FOR CLEVO P15****

I got this information from the owner of this store in another forum.

    Cheers.

I ordered the 95% gamut glossy screen on my NP8130 and, while I haven't seen an NP8130 without the 95% gamut, the screen is amazing while watching movies and playing games. It is definitely a huge step up from my old HP Envy 14's screen.

The image is amazing. no much distortion with any angle. like IPS.

This new sager that I ordered have this screen too. I will receive it on 5 of june and hoppe that screen looks like the thinkpad.

for idea, some pictures. not good quality pictures, but for idea.

good information here however as this post is a year old its a bit misleading.

A normal screen upgrade to 95% is ~150$ which makes it a harder decision in regards to other potential upgrades.

Also this post makes me sigh at the great prices for good screens only a year ago!
