If I spec'd out a 9260 with: a E6700; a dual 7950 GTX (it comes with SLi); then went with 4 GB of ram (which Sager states the 64 bit version of Vista is required); a single 160 GB 7200 HD; etc. It would be one heck of a machine, right? Well, my junior cadet question is how overbuilt is this machine?.... if I rarely (read never) play games, but wish to have the absolute best 3d and cad graphics rendering laptop you can get.

Based on this, am I ever likely to use anything beyond 2 GB of ram? What is the 64 bit version of Vista going to really get me? and finally how would a non-gamer likely benefit from going with the dual gpu in this scenario?

A non gamer wouldn't benefit from a dual GPU at all, unless you had some sort of extreme 3d CAD requirements. Also, the 64-bit version of Vista has some serious driver problems, so I'd stick with 3gb RAM and 32-bit for now.

Many thanks. If one still goes for the 4 GB of ram and install the 32 bit OS does that dodge the 64 bit driver problems, but still allows for Vista, et al to potentially use some of the 4GB of ram if I opted to go with 4 vs. 3 GB of ram?
