    Hey,
Okay so I originally had 8gbx2 but I remembered I had some of the same type of memory (HyperX) but it is 4gbx2 so would running 8gbx2 and 4gbx2 be okay? Will this run in dual channel or how will that work? Thanks ....oh and by the way I just got my laptop back from RMA!!!!

From what I understand, that would run in dual channel.

Yes, it will be okay. If you populate all four slots, the system will continue to run in dual channel, also - albeit "asynchronous dual channel" (which makes nearly no difference).

Using mismatched ram can increase your chances of getting bluescreens. So you would want to ideally have the sticks of ram be as similar as possible. If you aren't using more than 16gb of ram, I don't know if you would really see any noticeable benefit. But you could always try it out, and if it has issues, remove the ram.

The exact way it works depends on the configuration.

    A1 + B1 = 8gb sticks (slots next to each other)
A2 + B2 = 4gb sticks (other set of slots next to each other)

Would give all 24gb in dual channel. You can pair them up the other way round with the 4gb in the 1st set too if you like.

The only way that will give asynchronous dual channel is putting a 4gb and 8gb stick next to each other. This will give for the two sets 16gb in dual channel and 8gb in single channel.

So put each matching set together in slots next to each other and you are sorted. Just make sure it's all the same speed and voltage though.

yup they are exactly the same just 2 are 4gb and 2 are 8gb is there any advantage to asynchronous dual channel? and yes I know there really isn't a reason for me to have 24gb of ram as I am mostly a gamer but I this it is better to use these 4gb sticks than to let them collect dust in my house..

No, it's a touch slower running in asynchronous mode, the thing is it works so say it was your only option it would be ok. Match them up and run them normally like above ;)

okay well I got them in dual channel mode then, it might just be placebo but my laptop does seem a tiny bit more responsive or it could be I had been using a Toshiba Satellite laptop while waiting for this one to get back from RMA, I gotta hand it to Sager and XoticPC man they got my laptop back VERY fast I mailed it to them on Sept 8th Sager received it Sept 11th which was a Friday and they mailed it back to me on the 15th and I received it today the 18th.....now tell me any other laptop company that can do that.....seriously fast service!

Glad to hear all is well with the system coming back for you. I know it might have gotten a bit frustrating, but definitely glad to see you are overall happy with the whole process.

Adding the extra ram would not make it more responsive, but the fact it is responsive means you have not done any harm to your performance and now have plenty of ram to spare :)

ya I figured it was placebo, plus I was using a Toshiba Satellite i5 the one that runs off of like 33 watts while this bad boy was getting RMA'd but I got the Toshiba at a Cash Land (they do payday loans and people can pawn their **** for a $5 rock) for $150 and the keyboard lights up and it has touchscreen and it can be turned into a tablet by pushing the screen 180 degree's so it is pushed behind the keyboard, pretty cool and it worked in a pinch as a way to get on the internet while I was waitin for my laptop as I was expecting Sager to have it around 3 weeks but they had it less than 1 week lol so I might sell it not sure, not sure what they are worth. Thanks @Meaker

No problem, having a spare machine is handy if possible after all and if it was not that expensive and seems ok...
