I am having some difficulty with the memory stick reader on my new NP2092 Sager laptop. The memory card reader works fine with standard Sony Memory Sticks (max storage 256mb). When I use a Memory Stick Pro Duo card (with the adapter) I am having some problems. Vista x64 will recognize that a Memory Stick Pro card has been inserted but when I attempt to view the contents of the card I get the message "Please insert a disc". Further testing shows that sometimes if I re-format the card with another card reader I am able to view the data on the card, however, if I format the card with my camera it will never read the card. Even if I take a picture on my camera with the "correctly" formatted card it changes it enough to make it such that I can't read the card with the reader in my laptop.

I sent an email to Sager support but have yet to get a response (3 Days ago).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Can someone else confirm or deny that the memory stick reader works with Memory Stick Pro Duo cards? Or even a Memory Sick Pro card? Thanks.

I don't know if this is relevant, but i have a computer running Vista Business and I've also heard from others that this is quite common; memory card readers, in general (I use SDHC) seem to screw up with Vista.

Vista likes to reformat and scan all of the memory cards and stuff and, for me, rarely recognizes them. It's actually BROKEN one of my SD cards before too (I'm reasonably sure that's what it was because it worked fine in my camera minutes before I put it into the computer).

If I'm totally misinformed or irrelevant, let me know :D
