I think I posted in the wrong forum earlier today. I only found out that Metabox
seem like they are rebranded Sagers? Is this right?

Does anyone having any experience using this laptop?

Im thinking about buying one second hand off a guy for 1200 euro.

    Its this one http://www.itchannel.com.au/Products/Metabox-730.asp

His has a PM 2.16ghz and 2 gig of ram with a 80gig harddrive.

    Quote:
WSXGA+ or WUXGA CSV Glossy LCD

His has a Glossy screen. Is that good or bad?

Also whats a PM 2.16 , pentium mobile?

Im from ireland so I was also wondering if its possible to get parts like a new
    battery for it?

The Sager 5720 is a very powerful laptop and still great. The glossy screen means its the reflective, glass like kind.

A PM 2.16 pentium mobile is a Pentium M processor running at 2.16ghz. It is extremely powerful, the 2nd most powerful in the Pentium M line.

If you want new parts for it you'd have to contact a clevo authorised distributor in Europe. There contact info is as follows:

    Clevo UK service center:
ADD: Unit 39, Rainbow lndustrial Estate,
    Trout road, West Drayton, Middx,
    UB7, 7RN UK

    TEL: 44-1895-430333
    FAX: 44-1895-438338

    Ah thank you very much!

Im kinda new to the whole laptop industry. Is reflective good? Wont I just be
looking at myself in the screen?

What they're trying to do is make the screen look like a normal PC monitors screen. Most of the time it'll be ok, but in the right light you will be looking at yourself.

Your particular Pentium M in there is actually 2.13GHz. What sort of environments will you be in? I personally do not find reflective screens to be as bad as they are made out to be. The picture is sharper and clearer, and the contrast is better.

Oops, didnt notice that :p The speed on that particular model of Pentium M is 2.13ghz.

And to clear a little bit up from my other post. If you need parts, basic things you dont need to go to that clevo distributor for. If you want a new processor, RAM, or Hard Drive, just about any compatable model will work. But if you need a new screen, battery, motherboard, etc. you'll need to contact the distributor.

Ill be using the laptop in a computer lab and at home in a room which is nicely
    lit.

Oh will it hook up to a projector easily enough? I think all laptops can do
    that right?

Yeah my only worry about this is that its second hand. If the thing craps out
I really would not know what to do. Id probably try a PC/laptop repair shop I
guess. I think ill have to get a new battery for it if its been used a lot.

Is 1200 euro a lot of this? I think I can only afford 1100 anyway  But ill see
if he will meet me halfway.

I wouldn't automatically assume the battery is bad . . that usually doesn't happen for a couple of years.
That's would be a fairly big issue, especially since you are putting down 1,200 Euros on it.

You could create a new thread in the What to Buy forum and complete the FAQ so you can get recommendations on what else is out there for 1,100 Euros.

    Thanks for the help guys

That's not a very old model. Is it still covered by Metabox's 1-year warranty?

Back in June, soomeone was selling a similarly spec'd Sager NP5710 for $1550 USD over at the powernotebooks.com forum. I'm not sure how different those models are, but 1550 USD is about 1200 Euros, isn't it? Since that was months ago, and you can now get an equivalent Sager/Clevo with Core Duo, i'd think that price is a little high.

The 5710 has a Radeon x700 and the 5720 has a GeForce 7800gtx. Big difference in video power.

Thanks for clarifying. So is the 5750 an updated 5710 and a 5760 an updated 5720?

    Sager confuses me.

The 5750 is core duo and a radeon x1600 and the 5760 is core duo and a Geforce 7900gtx.

Don't forget that the NP5750 also has an option for the Go7800GTX 256MB for an additional $149. It's a beast.

Yes, the NP5760 replaced the NP5720, and the NP5750 replaced the NP5710.
