So i'm trying to play metro on my brand new NP9150, and I keep getting the error:

    D3D: detected unknown videocard's vendor, that's unsupported!
I have 7970m and the drivers that came on the CD installed

    Any ideas?

No one else with this problem? I've done some google searches, can't find anything. I see tons of people are playing metro with the 7970m though

I also had this error when game starts, but after I click ok the games run perfectly. Actually metro 2033 is one of the few games that run normally without enduro issues. Rmember to have it upto date, to have Nvidia physix installed, and also vc redist and dx up to date. Those installs should be in the folder where you installed metro

Did it install the Nvidia Physx driver? IIRC that needs to be installed. And you need to reboot after installing it.

According to your description, I believe it is a problem on your video driver. Make sure you re-install the AMD/ATI video driver for 7970M. If you are not sure which driver you shall install, please contact the tech support you bought the notebook from.

If re-install the video driver is not helpful, then I would say the problem is on your Direct 11x. You can re-install your Windows to solve this issue.

If still not O.K. call the tech support.
