    Hello,

I have a Clevo P170EM and when I start Metro 2033 I get an error. The error says: "D3D: detected unknown videocard's vendor, that's unsupported.".

When I click OK, the game does not respond anymore and I am forced to close it.

Can anybody tell me what I could do to fix this, thanks!

    Greetings,

    TQ

I had the same issue with it, I fixed it and it runs pretty good. First thing to do is to go in and manually white list it in the CCC (browse to the Steamapps\common folder and get the exe from in there.)

After that rebuild the files in steam by right clicking on the game, clicking properties, the local files tab, and verify the integrity of the files.

Do those and come back and let me know. I did a lot before I got it to work, but these are the first two to work on! I got it working, we can get it working for you as well.

Alrighty, try uninstalling and reinstalling Physx.

There is actually a version that is located in the game files you can use. It is in the install folder under metro's folder in steam.

Give that a shot and we will see what happens.

There are too many possibilities for this error. Some features in Windows have been turn off to causing this kind of error.

I recommend you to re-install your Windows 7 and video driver again.

The error happens for me every time I open it. When I first downloaded the game it wouldn't run. After some trouble shooting as well as some other work it runs fine, even though I get he error when I start the game.

Try the video drivers, I'm running 12.7 right now installed over the stock disc ones. Which ones are you running?

I installed the 12.7 beta driver.
The version in CCC says now: 2012.0626.1157.19340
    This is correct, right?
Because I'm still getting the same error.

Give the fix here a try:

possible fix to Metro 2033 startup crash!

There is a LONG list of causes for it. It took me a few days to get it working right. I'm just going down the list of things that I did to fix it before it suddenly worked for me :D

    This is what I used. 3dfxzone.it - Tools Channel -> 3D-Analyze -> Latest Release

It can trick metro to think you got another card, just change it to a card that works and it will be no problems.

Hey all and everybody who don't want to use that method!

I had the exact same problem metioned above, and came with another solution: update metro 2033 to version 2 (google: Metro.2033.Update.2-SKIDROW). Now it just sais "yeah I don't know what kind of videocard you have, there may be problems but I don't care", and starts the game anyway, and it runs the game VERY SMOOTH. God I'm happy it finally works, 1080p, DX11, high fps on this machine (Eurocom) instead gaming on 720p, DX9, low fps on an Packard Bell.

    Ciao
