I was wondering, someone said that the hole near the touchpad is a microphone, how do I turn it on and use it? I need to put some audio in for a project on Windows Live Movie Maker. Thanks.

What computer is this? and it should always be on and will activate when you attempt to record sound. If it doesn't have one just go borrow one or buy a cheap one for 10<

But having the Mic near the touchpad seems illogical because all you will hear is buzzing/clicking/rustling

It should be enabled by default as the set Mic source, if not you can enable it in the Realtek manager or Windows sound settings.

The mic is there, it's not any worse than past Dell's I've had with the mic above the keyboard or the Macbook I had with it's also above the keyboard mic.

Are you serious? Man I guess the mic I had on my netbook was just super sensitive because people could hear me breathing even after I turned it down lol

That sounds like one of the Dell's I had once with it's ridiculously over sensitive mic that I had my choice between can't hear my voice or can hear my voice + every sound in a slightly smaller than a nuclear blast radius... I bought a headset for it needless to say.

The 500GB in the main slot is the factory drive though I have swapped it out a few times for projects/backup/restore, it's super simple, the 1TB is in an optical bay caddy.

Thanks for the responses, as a follow up, does anyone know what program I could use to make an audio file? It seems that I cannot just record it straight off WMM. I had a feeling that would happen lol.

Theres the sound recorder app that comes with Windows which works pretty well for basic recording, other than that theres a bunch of third party recording tools, you might like Audacity a free recorder/editor.
