    You know it's sad but the ONLY HDTV capable Mini PCI card that I can seem to find is the AOpen 90.MPC46.0310. (Also known as the LR351)

    AOpen is an established market leader, from motherboards to monitors, to multimedia add-on cards, and more. With AOpen products, you are guaranteed the latest in technology development at competitive prices. And because AOpen controls design and manufacturing, from the drawing board to the finished product, the quality of that product is ensured.

    Features:

    * Product Description: AOpen LR351 - ATSC HDTV receiver / analog TV tuner - Mini PCI
    * Device Type: ATSC HDTV receiver / analog TV tuner - plug-in module
    * Interface Type: Mini PCI
    * Video Input: TV tuner - plug-in module
    * Analog Video Format: NTSC, PAL-B/G, PAL-N, PAL-M, PAL-I, PAL-K, PAL-D, SECAM L, SECAM D/K
    * Analog Video Signal: HF TV signal
    * Digital Video Format: DVB
    * Audio Input Support: Standard
    * Cables Included: 2 x antenna adapter - external 1 x antenna cable - external
    * OS Required: Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition

    From the sparse info I can find it was designed to work in the AOpen MP945-VXR MODEL and not in a notebook. The card only comes with Win Media Center 2005 drivers and Win XP drivers.

    I cannot find a trace of it on AOpen's N.American website and nothing on their Global website about it.

    Seems to me that more manufacturers would be making HDTV capable Mini PCI cards.

    Anyone have any clues that it would work IN a notebook? If it's Mini PCI format it should right? Thoughts?

    I have a TV tuner in my notebook but I want a HDTV tuner.

    at the moment, the hybrid TV Tuner is bang for the buck, and has HDTV support... but mainly for DVB-T.

    ATSC internal notebook tuners are not up to par yet... the US made an interesting choice for going with ATSC while the rest of the world is using DVB-T.

    I would just use the basic tuner and get an external HDTV tuner... until you can get a good internal one.

    Yeah, the US makes such interesting choices all the time. Occasionally we get it right, but usually...

    I wouldn't bother getting an HDTV tuner (unless you really need one now) until the forced transition occurs around 2009. Once free SDTV has gone the way of the dodo, we'll know what HDTV standards are "necessary" for 100% compatibility. Chances are you'll need a tuner that accepts a smartcard for cable and OTA doesn't offer much.
