It's been said that they reside on a different socket from the 5796's motherboard, which doesn't sound promising. I would imagine future revisions might work though.

Well both do use the socket P platform. The current models use the FCBGA6 socket P revision. It hasn't been stated whether they will drop in to FCBGA6 sockets.

PCMW is claiming it will work in the system with the following: Core™2 Extreme Quad Core QX9300 (2.53GHz/1066MHz/12MB) ETA 8/15 [+780] http://www.pcmicroworks.com/horizon.htm

I'm not too keen on trusting what comes from there though...

    Don't trust them.
IF Clevo has NO OFFICIAL word on this, it won`t happen.

The socket is the same but I tried and tried BIOS hacks with no results. I think there may need to be a MB revision. The quad core is not working in the 570-TU at this time

You can only get them direct from Intel for testing or review systems ;)

The quads aren't available yet so we'll just have to wait for them to arrive and for Clevo to release a supporting BIOS......

I have a quadcore Q9100. I posted pictures in several threads so I will refrain from posting them again.

Hey, I hope a BIOS will do it, but I would wait for a motherboard revision to be sure. It won't post at all, not even beep codes so that is usually NOT BIOS fixable.

If PCMW can get these by the 15th I will be amazed. I had a person contact me with a pre-order price they paid for a 860TU through PCMW and it was well below even the component prices. I will reserve judgment, but it seems like there is a lot of over-promising from that camp.

You need an Intel NDA to be able to get ES chips.

Hmm interesting. In the past, desktop motherboard manufacturers released BIOS updates when quads came out. Lets hope for the same.

eurocom had a q4/08 ETA on the quads, now that's removed adn they seem to have htem in stock.
can this be possible? They seem pretty honest in their stock notificationb ecause only recently did they remove the ETA on the quad details and pretty much I'm assuming they're in stock now
