I can't seem to find much info on overvolting the 7970M in my P150em. I'm sure I'm just missing it somewhere. Are there any issues with doing it on these machines? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any general thoughts/tips on upping the voltage on my 7970M would be much appreciated.
I should note, I'm pretty experienced with computers/overclock/VBIOS/etc. etc., but this will be the first time I'm venturing into voltage mod territory on a mobile card. So any tips/links/guides on mobile voltage modding is always helpful as well.

A modded bios is needed, and there is none for the EM series. If im not mistakennn...
-
Can anyone else confirm this?
-
-
then anyone tried to put 7970m from enduro series to non-enduro series and flash mod bios and then put it back to enduros series?
-
nope, aint gonna work, since by flashing back to enduro vbios ud also revert back to the stock voltage as part of the vbios package...

Hey guys, other systems like the GX60 can flash the bios and change the voltage, the EM series for some reason can't write to the 7970M (unless this was fixed recently) so flashes have to be done in another system in order to change it like I did.

*note the language was pre signing on with powernotebooks* -
So just to makes sure: Currently, the only way to up the voltage on a 7970M in a P150EM is to flash it on another notebook that can read the vbios? Are there any other options that anybody knows of?
-
-
well, ive just been told that asus gpu tweak in version 2.3.5 is able to change the voltage on a 7970M via software
dunno if it works on switchable graphics laptops tho...

Worth a try as a free download I suppose, it's really annoying that something is just designed wrong and blocking ATIFLASH.
-
.
Anyway I want to put the card back into my p150em for s*its and giggles and was wondering if you or anyone on this forum has the stock vbios for the 7970m in a p150em by chance..? -
I have one

Kind of like the news, well, or just the confirmation:
The latest http://de1-dl.techpowerup.com/Utilities/BIOS_Flashing/ATI/ati_winflash_2.3.0.zip version of ati WINflash.exe can read and write vBIOS 7970m in P150 EM, at least in my DNS (0151825)
I will mention, just in case, that everything is performed from the command line under Win7 and version of the driver AMD 13.2 beta 7

Usually they don't due to NDA.

But you, or someone else can try to do it. Here is a link to the instructions (!in Russian!):

Well, or you go to the Techinferno. There's request. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
This means you can flash modified files (which is what I think he meant)...
-
where is svl7?
-
switzerland i think? or was it germany?

As for the posting he hangs around techinferno more.
-
anyone has any update flashing oc or ov bios successfully?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
So long as you can flash a bios this will work as there is nothing particularly special about voltage modified bios files.
-
Could anyone tell me if there are some modded p150em 7970m vbios out there to flash? Mostly interested in a undervolt version to reduce heat.
tnx in advance -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes, over at the tech inferno forums.
-
Would really be appreciated!

I would be much appreciated too) need modded vbios for 7970m on my p150em ,with little guide how to flash =P
-
Finally the opportunity is here, to flash our 7970m with the Clevo P series, and then it's easier to dig up the holy grail than finding an modded vbios that work :-/
-

I would contact SVL7, throw in some beer money and be a little patient. You have waited this long and your machines should be giving you some enjoyment already
-
This is definitely good news looks like us EM owners with 7970's can breathe new life into our machines, this is probably a dumb question but does this also mean we can flash vbios's that would allow us to upgrade to 780m/8970m GPU's?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Nvidia cards have no problem flashing.
-
8970's or 8990's then
-
waiting for the p170EM 7970m vbios file then, id like to try the 1.075v.....
-
1.075 v and we will beat 680m easy
-
lol, i admire ur optimism, but.... not really
every 25mV step will give u an additional 30-40 mhz stable on the core

omg xD I thought my 7970 will be hot baby 1100 cpu 1550 gpu Mhz -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Pft, I put 1.1V and 1180mhz through my 680M
-
sure, makes sense to compare two entirely different gpus meaker

not all that hot actually
on my max. clocks im reaching 82C after 20min. of kombustor, in games im usually in the 60s, sometimes 70s.
then again,im repasting and cleaning out the innards of my machine on a regular basis and prop up the back with two bottle caps, helps immensely with keeping it up n running in a cool manner
