Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum and I'm planning to become part of the clevo family by buying the laptop of the title, but first I want your advice.

I've been looking around for some weeks planing to buy one P170SM based laptop. I looked for XMG, Sager, Mountain and other european resellers just to find that prices were very similar among them. The desired config was:

    17,3 inch matte screen
    4700MQ
    GTX 770M
    8GB Ram
    1 SSD (arround 128GB)
    1 HDD (500-750 GB)
DVD (I'm not interested in blu-ray option)

In all the resellers I looked the prices were between 1500-1600€ but today I found this

    Mountain GTM 174G

    17,3 inch matte screen
    4700MQ
    GTX 780M
    8GB Ram Kingston HyperX 1600 (2x4gb)
Raid 0 (2x) SSD 128GB mSATA (up to 1000MB/s read)

And the best thing it's only 1700€. I say only because this config in any other reseller of clevo goes up to 1900-2000€, and if you look for an Alienware or Asus... better not to think about that.

What do you think? Is a good chance to get this laptop for that price? Any advice you may give me?

This is the link of this laptop if you want to have a look.

MOUNTAIN Portátil GTM 174G - MOUNTAIN

In case you don't know Mountain is a spanish reseller with very good reputation, so thats perfect for me (I live close to Madrid) as I can go to their office in case I have any problem.

    Thank you for your answers

I think 110 euro upgrade to a 780M is a no brainer for gaming, since the 780M is anywhere from 20-50% faster than the 770M in games. Raid 0 SSD is overkill, but you can always trade or sell the extra SSD for a big hard drive. I think you forgot to include the cost of Windows in the build, unless you have a copy. Damn that VAT is killer, so high.

I already have the Windows license for both windows 7 and 8 professional as the give me them for free for been a student. Which one do you think is better or has better driver support? Windows 7 isn't it? I also have one 500gb 2,5 inch hdd, that's why I chose that build.

    Any more suggestions?

I see no reason to use 7 when you can skin 8 to look like 7 while keeping all the improvement Microsoft made.
