    Hi Guys,

The "A" key on my 8130 just broke and Sager Support told me that I have to send them my whole laptop if I wanted it fixed. They said because of the new style keyboard, none of the keys are removable and that the entire keyboard needs to be replaced.

Does anyone here have experience repairing these? It feels like something is stuck under the key and it requires a lot of force to press. Obviously the key still works, but sometimes I have to press 2 or 3 times to get it to register.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    thanks,

Hey man. There could be a dust buildup or some extra plastic shaving or maybe sticky residue?? I duno these don't necessarily make sense but could be an issue.
There is a way to remove the keyboard if you wanted to check on your own.

You gotta open the back cover and then use a screwdriver in the sweet spot (between the fan and cpu) to pop out the speaker grill and then you have access to the keyboard and RAM slots. Becareful not to bend the keyboard ribbon cable.

I managed to find the Xoticpc video on how to remove the keyboard! YouTube - Sager NP8150 Keyboard Removal to access RAM DIMM's under keyboard

Maybe you can get them to ship you just another keyboard and install it yourself. btw if you ordered through a reseller I would talk with them rather then Sager directly.
But IMHO just getting them to ship you a new keyboard would be much better as you could most likely install it yourself, following that video or the P151-HM1 manual, and could still keep the computer while it ships.

You could try removing the KB and cleaning it, or maybe flipping the system upside down and tapping on the key upwards could help, if there's something stuck under it.

If you have tools a kb replacement is pretty easy, get your reseller to send you one...
