At first I thought it was great but I totally change my mind. Its not bright, its pretty dim. *sigh*

nice man.
give us pics... since you put us through so much about the LCD issue. -
ok actually it is slightly grainy but its not really noticeable ill have pics later.. my old fujitsu is slightly brighter
-
ok on second thought its not bright enough.. i need two lamps damnit .. im gonna try to mod it soon, maybe..
-
I have one in my M570RU...
It´s nice, but not great... with its use, the right side of the panel becames darker than the rest os the screen.
Soner or later I will need to send it to RMA... -
that stinks.. after comparing this screen with my old fujitsu which has dual lamps i think.. i definitely want a dual lamp lcd.. the fujitsu is so much brighter and vivid, screams hey look at me.. don't need to adjust color/gamma stuff at all.. on this screen i had to mess with it for a while, which i think has to do with 45% color saturation.. this is suppose to be 300 nits.. and fujitsu is 370 so I don't understand how 70 nits is that much brighter
so does anyone know for sure if a LP171WP7 is compatible with this notebook? Will I have to be the first to try and install it? I hope not..
or even whatever is in the fujitsu's which i dont think will fit -
you will need the dual lamp inverter for the notebook. Just try to see if the inverter from your Fujitsu Fits in in the Sager Case, and swap them...
-
the resolution is a huge factor usually for single and dual lamp LCDs.
its a give and take.
... if you want a low resolution (1440x900 and under) LCD, it will be brighter
...if you want a high resolution (1680x1050 and above) LCD, it usually will be bright but not as bright as a dual lamp.
Most ODMs and OEMs of notebook do not put too many dual lamp high resolution LCDs in notebooks anymore. Its not cost effective. -
Well the 5792 i returned had a 1440x900 lcd and it wasn't that bright either. The fujitsu was still much brighter. Yea cost effective is a problem, I don't mind paying extra for a brighter better lcd.
Also I think the fujitsu screen is a different size, its 17" but the lcd on the 9262 is still bigger. -
haha its funny the screen looks better during the day with reflections on the screen. At night with no reflections whites make it look like a matte screen. Blacks look good. This screen reminds me of my old gateway that i got rid of because of graininess. It had about the same brightness and looks overall.. might have been the same model lcd.
-
I have that exact same screen. I know exactly what you are talking about. The screen looks brighter when there are bright lights reflecting on it. It seems to absorb the light reflecting on it or something like that.
-
If you saw whatever screen the fujitsu is using you'd see such a huge difference. Oh and I can't just take the fujitsu screen anyway i sold the fujitsu notebook to my friend.
-
Wow ok im really pissed now.. I opened up the LCD bracket or whatever you call it and just saw the model is
*drum roll*
LG WP171W02 ... WTF??? I was expecting a WE2
here are the stats for W02
LG.Philips
Model Name LP171W02

Outline Dimension[mm] 382.2 x 244.5

Resolution 1,680 x 1,050
Aspect Ratio 16:10
Pixel Pitch[mm] 0.219(116)

Contrast Ratio 400:1
Interface LVDS 2 port
Viewing Angel[',U/D/L/R] 120/140
Color Temperature[K]
Response Time[ms] 25
MP Schedule
THAT Is absolutely horrible. This model should have been discontinued and replaced with the WE2.. Here I thought the WE2 was a horrible screen when in fact it has twice the brightness level and 200 more contrast ratio. So I guess "glossy" means you get some junk lcd they were using 3 years ago and were getting rid of old stock. WTF do i do now.. -
Anyone know about the LP171WP7 (TL)(A1) ?? It supposedly uses LED backlights instead.. would that use a different inverter and cable than what i have now?
-
who did you order you 9262 from?
-
and does anyone have a direct hyperlink to a program where i can check the model number of my wsxga glossy screen for my first gen D900T?
i think my screen is one of the best i have seen in a laptop. but then again i have not seen the new laptop screens...or maybe i just think it is a great screen...oh i don't know, but i would like to see the stats on what i have, though. -
Only real way of finding out the model is opening up the panel that houses your lcd.. take off the round rubber things will reveal screws.. just unscrew and unscrew the screws inside the model is on the back of the lcd itself.
I ordered from rjtech -
for the moment, LG would not give up a diagnostic program to specifically view the model number.
I have been trying to get a hold of a software solution for a couple of weeks now... my sources cannot get them either.
So you can see the revision version of the LCD using programs like Everest, but that does not specifically indicate the exact model.
Only opening it and looking at the back is the way to check... for now. -
ok well since my laptop is 3 years old i assume i have the same lcd as malignant does.
-
As you can see my WE2 have the LPL1289 as ID... while yours is LPL0000...
Toshiba X200 uses this model too...
BTW 2005 as a manufature date is fu***ing old... WTF... -
Heres my info.. geeze.. 2004 manufacture date
-
well lame rjtech won't do anything about it.. they don't deal with lcds.. and i have a Prostar serial number.
-
Oh I see, then you probably have to either return it to RJtech, or contact Pro-Star to see if you can get a decent LCD
... remember to be adamant about the fact that you are getting an under average quality WSXGA+ panel. -
so i talk to prostar and they tell me to talk to rjtech lol.. im gonna just return the unit to "prostar" since they have 15-day money back guarentee for "resellers" and go with xoticpc i guess..
-
I don't know for sure, but I think that the manufacture date that people are getting when they use Everest is more keyed to the date of the EDID/firmware revision implemented in the particular LCD and is not really an indicator of when the physical LCD itself was manufactured.
I spent a bit of time poking around trying to figure out who made the LCD in my (departed) Sony VAIO Z1A, and in the course of that managed to retain a little bit of info about the standards for LCD data - in particular, that the EDID data culled from an LCD (other than the actual physical specs - the data that matta') is typically very unreliable because the manufacturers are very lazy about updating/correcting it.
So what you're probably looking at is probably the date of manufacture of the original ready-for-sale model on which your own LCD is based, the EDID data of which has probably just been cloned onto a CD and mindlessly duped into all succeeding LCDs, including yours (possibly with minor revisions in case small bugs or minor spec changes cropped up). -
ah well either way this lcd sucks :\
