As many of you know i received my D900F a few days ago.. ive been very busy so i havent really done much but ill share what i have with you:
The notebook looks, feels and is infact top class - what youd expect for the money you shell out for it.. the keyboard is great to write on, the screen is vivid and bright, but not too reflective (i got it with a stuck red pixel but i massaged it out and its gone) and the cooling is just amazing (havent even seen it go over 78C, and it drops almost instantly to under 58C when i stop the torture tests, and its real quiet; especially compared to my old M17 - that thing woke the whole house up). The raw cpu power is amazing, and the gpu aint bad either - it can run just about anything.. Its not a dual card solution, but for a single gpu its pretty much the best (cant beat the 280m sli or 4870CF, but heavily overclocked it should come close).. And the hardware raid is also great.. 200mb/s great (and thats with conventional hard drives.. imagine a 3x ssd raid0 on this).
Whell enough promotion for now.. ill get to the screenies now.. these are what i had time to do so far but ill prolly update later with more..
If you want any specific benchies, write here with links to demos and benchmarking tools (or demos at least so i can do a fraps run).
You can see the specs in my sig, but if i happen to change it, here you go:
• 17" WUXGA 1920x1200
• GTX 280M 1024MB GDDR3
• Intel® Core™ i7-950 @ 3,03GHz
• 6GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
• 3x Seagate Momentus 7200.3 250GB (Raid0)
• Blu-ray Disk Drive
• Intel® Wireless 5300AGN

Max Overclock without overvolting tested to work so far: 645 (core - stock 583) / 1100 (memory - stock 950) / 1650 (shader - stock 1450) Havent tried anything higher yet.
-
Very good...... I'm about to build raid 0 with 2 X25-M in M98NU.
-
Very good.... I love that win 7 theme. Could you give me a link to it?
-
Just tried overclocking the gpu.. it went fine to 656/1075/1650 (stock 583/950/1450) without any overvolting.. but the gain in crysis benchmark is minimal (2 fps).. so im wondering if its even worth it to run it at these clocks..

What was the stock voltage? -
HERE you go.
Im actually running windows 7. Everything runs fine on it. -
Dont really know.. i just upped the clocks in performance in nvidia control panel (ntune). Dont see any voltage info anywhere in nvidia control panel or gpuz..
Point me to it and i can tell you. -

Download GPU-Z and extract the card's BIOS. Send me the copy of your BIOS so I can see for myself.
-
I already have GPU-Z 0.3.1 but it doesnt have that option.. is there a newer one that has it? Post a link to it..
-
Cancel that.. just found it.. posting a link in a sec..
-
thanks for your contribution! It's about time somebody with the 9280 posted up benchmarks! Hopefully somebody with the i7-975 will post something up as well!

Is this what youre lookin for? -

Yes, that's it. Thank you.
Your GTX 280M is at 1v. However, the rest of the voltages for the lower levels are all at 0.9v compared to the M570TU's GTX 280M's BIOS, which are all at 0.85v.
The point being here is that your card overclocks very well at 1v. It is most likely because of the new MXM socket that is maintaining stability. If possible later on, could you run OCCT GPU test with error check enabled? The goal is to find out at what temperature your card will begin artifacting under those clocks.
I may also flash your BIOS onto my GTX 280M and see how it holds up. -
Shouldnt be much of a difference but id still welcome someone else posting up benchies for comparison at least to see if my system is performing as it should..
-
id love to see overclocking at least software... o well... this seriously makes me want an NP9280... I know i want the NP9850 though... so hard to fight it...
-
Yes, yours VBIOS is newer than mine, will flash it later. Thanks again.
-
You can overclock the gpu but ive had no luck with the cpu.. the bios has absolutely nothing in there to oc it and no software will work.. the closest is evga eleet (which ist meant for this motherboard but surprisingly it lets me instal it) which lets me up the multipliers for turbo boost.. but thats not really ideal.. i dont think i need more cpu power to be honest but it would still be a nice bonus to have the option right..
-
So whats the voltage on it?
-
Max is 1.03V, default 1.0V.
-
But the 280 in TU and D900F have different MXM socket, should be ok then?
-
Ah so no higher on this lappy either.. whell i dont think ill be overclocking so much to need more so its fine i guess..
Thanks for looking into it.. -

I'm actually withdrawing that statement. I just saw the voltage range for the D900F BIOS and the lowest is 0.85v. I'm going to keep my BIOS as my lower levels are undervolted to 0.7v and my max level is stable at 1.05v. Narrowing the voltage range isn't going to benefit me one bit.
-
Ill test it tomorrow perhaps.. im goin to get some sleep now.. its 2 am here..
Yeah that would probably just make it run hotter in your lappy.. this one does have the best cooling ive seen so i guess the higher lower voltages are reasonable (the gpu runs at 44C at idle)..
And if anyone wants some benchies done on this rig write here.. ill be happy to do them if ill have enough time.. (im leaving in 2 days for a month so thats the timeframe im giving you
)

That's okay, HellCry. You don't need to run the GPU test. I no longer have any intuition to use your BIOS on my card after finding out that the voltage range got chopped, so the GPU test I asked you to run is meaningless now. Thanks again though, and enjoy your month vacation.

I want GTA 4.... Maxed out completely. To max it out:
1. Create a text file called commandline.txt in GTA 4 folder.
2. Type "-norestrictions" in the file and save.
3. Run GTA 4 and max it out and do not worry about vram limitations. -

hey hellcry it seems that we both choose sager after having the arima w840di. here's some neat features sager has. we both have the same chassis. btw but I have older components.
fn+1 changes your fan to auto and always on. this is a very useful feature to bring your idle temps down. and the great thing is, is the system is still very quite.
fn+f2 make your lcd light shut off but the screen is still on in the background..
now I purchased my system used and I can tell you my screen is alittle loose so I wuld recommend you to buy some hinges as I am going to do the same. -
The fans are already on all the time (even at idle), though you can barely hear them.. and i already played alot with fn+f2 to get rid of the stuck pixel.
Ill download gta4 now.. be back later with results. -
Im not sure if gta will download in time since the download rate is very slow and its 14gb.. but ill post if it will make it in time..
But ive updated the first post with a little overclocked gpu screenie for crysis. -
Maybe a HDD tune benchie? plz?
Kinda wondering whether its really got hardware RAID, or just software RAID.... -
Youre kidding right? Its the first benchmark i made and posted.. the first post in this topic.. look at it.
The results are convincing id say. -
It should be hard raid, but with ICHR, not a seperate IOP.
-
Wow!
Your single card and i7 core beast almost manage to get the same 3DMARK06 score as my SLI rig.( see sig for the #'s)
Congrats man and enjoy! -
I can overclock to beat it if you want
But your rig is still a bit superior for actual gaming.. id rather have yours but i couldnt buy it anymore since all the big vendors stopped selling it for this i7 one. -
Update: Upped the core to 645 and no signs of any trouble or excessive temperatures after playing crysis for a while
-
your memory is rated for 1100 i think ...
and to bad angelic voices is selling hers for 1900 now
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Those are Samsung memory chips rated for 1000MHz.
-
Her NP9262 is sold? Or where did you get that info? I still see a 2100$ price on it.
-
i pmed her... gave her an offer 1900 on it... i will probably get it...
-
Lucky man.. Trade me for my NP9280
-
lol no thanks... ill need the sli
edit: want the sli... -
I was just kidding man
I dont really need it.. it just as i described it there..:

Lol. i hopped on one. just waiting for sli so i can see the performance difference from my whitebook.
-
lol i know... just explaining why i would like to have it
-
Whell im off to vacation.. see ya all in a month!
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
your always on a vaca. Lol.
-
Well Mr. HellCry - I took your advice, and ordered as follows:
Multicom Kunshan D900F
- Intel Core i7 920 (to save some money)
-3 x 250Gb 7200 rpm hardisks - I believe they are either Samsungs or Seagates (again, to save money and yes, good speed in a RAID 0 setup)
- 3 x 2Gb 1033 DDR 3 system memory
- GeForce GTX280M
- Windows Vista 64 bit, upgradeable to Windows 7
Now it will be a week's wait for them to put it together and test it, and send it to me.
Thanks for good, sound advice, and good luck with your machine
