just trying to get a feel through for mine, since their aren't allot of people doing this let alone have dual gtx's to compare too
-
Ok so I ran both DX9 and 10 with FRAPS this time and I was a bit off but still pretty close. With DX9 at WSXGA I get 50-52 average. It never dips down 40fps in the biggest shootouts. With DX10 I get 41-43fps Average and it goes to 30fps i very big shootouts. If there is a tank It might go under 30fps. So in DX10 the Warhead runs a bit worser in my opinion then the original Crysis.
-
hummm, now that is interesting.....
give me a map to run through...i just copied my saved games to the laptop -
The map name is Shore_LEAVE_CRYSIS. I m not that far in the game yet
There will be some enemies in the forest up ahead. I was shooting them and blasting with an RPG and in DX10 It can go under 30fps.
-
aight cool, because i already finished the game, so ill test that section here in a few minutes.

^^ warhead has issues with DX10 and 64 bit. i hope they have a fix very soon for it and the serious memory leak issues too.

We uhh, hi guys! I'm surprised more people havn't posted in here. Well, here's my two cents.
I've got the dual core 3.33mhz processor
9800M GTX 1gb running in SLI
4gigs ram
Windows Vista 64bit
I've only had it for about 4 days, spending most of this time 'moving in'. I've tried 3dmark06 and the results seem to hover around 14500. Reducing the rig to a single GPU got me only about 10000 marks. What you guys are saying might be right. :/
My testing time has been short, litterally, since I've found with the stock drivers (stock 176.06s from sager) had me crashing after about 20-30 min of playing Crysis, and the same for Farcry 2. (something about nvlddmkm going funny)
Oddly enough, I havn't seen a whole lot of difference in playable framerate in Crysis between single and dual GPU configs. (Was testing with SLI disabled to see if that caused the crashing) Still, smooth at 1680x1050 at high settings, boy oh boy. ^^
Fortunately, I'm working up through the driver lists and it seems that the 178.24 driver set has Far Cry 2 playing stable. (yet to see about crysis) I'm nervous that it's a hardware fault. Most other games work well, havn't had a lot of time to test really. Fallout 3 only crashed twice so far.
Either way, games are looking BEAUTIFUL on it, for as long as they run at least. =) -
3.33 mhz, no wonder your games are crashing
but seriously, are you fully removing the old drivers before installing the new ones? (ie using driver sweeper in safe mode?). Also try the new 180.43 drivers, they are specifically recommended for far cry 2.
Have you got crysis patched to the latest version, as the original release did not support sli. -
auto
single gpu
split frame rate
split/alternate frame rate
alternate frame rate
alternate frame rate 1
alternate frame rate 2
these seem to have a vast effect on how your games will be played. try a different rate and see if this helps at all.... -
Haha, ghz rather.
Yeah I did use vanilla uninstall for the stock drivers before the next set. I wised up and sweeped in safe mode before installing the 178.24 set. I'm wary to install the absolute newest drivers, fluctuating results and all.
It's true that there are different SLI modes to offer, but something strikes me strange. If the game didn't work properly at standard settings, I'd see more people comparing SLI modes during their benchmarks and warning people not to use default SLI settings when playing it. Plus I saw benchmarks where people recommended drivers one set older than the ones I got stock for the test, and yes, I have crysis fully patched. -
ok, im lost...not sure what your expaining here...

I'm explaining that I'm going to have to send mine back. *rubs forehead*
No matter which driver I use, some of my games keep hitting me with a crash citing me the nvidia drivers as the problem. It's not overheating... It's fully updated....
Ugh this is why I got a new one, because I didn't want to deal with the BS my other laptop was giving me. I don't even want to try to figure this out anymore. I just wana send the **** thing back and get one that works properly. >:V -
ah...understood...
i was just asking if you tried the different frame rates. and i didn't see that answer.
but your right...if standard mode didn't work (aka single gpu mode) then i would have sent it back. well...actually...i did send it back. and it seems they don't know what's wrong with it either. they said something about sending it to clevo for repair. i was like...nah, im cool...ill take one of the new ones instead. so we shall see....they said the new come in next week.
so good luck with your repair. -
Trying framerates? Well I did try playing crysis with one gpu, for the couple hours I tried it, it was pretty stable, but then farcry 2 did the same thing on only one GPU. =_=
I'm going to do the same thing, ask for a whole new system, then the first thing I do when I get it back is slap Crysis on it and TEST. Sigh... -
man!!! i feel your pain!!
i started with 9800m gt's and thought they we're lagging a bit. so i upgraded to dual 9800m gtx's. then they started screen flickering and only running off one card and doing some other funny stuff. i was like...hell to the no! this was 3 hours after getting it back from the upgrade. i sent it back...they said if i didn't want to wait till next week...they would send it to clevo.... ummmm, no! if i spent another 650 to upgrade to gtx and it got worse...i think ill pass on that machine and take another one. -
Heh, I wish I had your problems. At least if my computer started doing all that kind of crazy crap I'd know what it was! In this case, I have no idea if it's bad software, bad hardware, or a combo of the both. Half the time the thing runs like nothing is wrong, until at some RANDOM and unpredictable time it turds on my head. Directly onto my head. =_=
-
yeah, i hear ya. nothing like not know what the he.ll is going on!
-
I was having the same issues with frames jumping, the IT guy here deleted everything off my computer and we started all over again with new drivers from Sager/Clevo to check out which one worked the best. I bench marked my computer last night and it was above 15500. We are still playing with it to see if I have any issues and we are doing a 3 day burn in to see if we can kill my computer.
I am currently deployed and sending this thing back is not really an option so if its broke I am going to have our IT guys tear into it to fix it. -
-
So what is the verdict with all of you 9800m GTX SLI owners. I keep flip flopping between the GT and GTX's. If the GTX's give crappy 3d scores but run games and apps better, than I will get them. I would like to get my order in before I deploy. Thanks guys.
Semper Fi. -
Is it a noticeable difference? I would rather use the extra 600 bucks on a paint job if the GTX's only give marginal improvements. After all, they are upgradeable. I am new in the laptop GPU area and am just wondering if 9800M GT SLI will hold it's own for awhile, at leas the next 16 months or so.
-
sure...you can run the gt's and be perfectly fine. i mean...i started out with gt's. and changed them 4 days later...but my system may have had issues form the beginning...hard to tell. most people are perfectly happy with the gt's.
-
Again, thanks. I plan on also rebuilding my desktop in '10. By then there should be some crazy trash out. I will always have my laptop for travel though and it seems as if I keep going back to games of old instead of the new ones.
-
if your going to paint at xoticpc, make sure you know the time delay, their painting equipment is currently requiring parts and those parts are on backorder, so theres an extra 3-4 weeks of wait time there, I switched my paintjob to sticker or else I would have gotten my laptop after christmas probably.

My NP9262 benchmark(with 9800M GTX in sli)....
