Thats alot of it, but also Criminals that just try to hide up something or cover their tracks, Gathering deleted emails, myspace onversations and contacts, drug dealers accounts, haha

I've never watched CSI, so I'm not sure what they do. It's just an area that interests me.

No, the point is to use the CAT5 Ethernet cable for Internet access so you won't be using a WiFi of any kind. They really suck the battery down, so it would be helpful to see what the battery life is with hardwired Internet access.

For those of us uninitiated into the world of practial laptop usage, is 2hrs and 10 min of battery life good or bad? Im not really sure in this case.

Its good. Not great. Great is like 3 hours to 4 hours, however, when you want a machine like that, you are probably already prepared to use it for basic tasks, like word processing and surfing etc. and not any gaming. (However, Unreal Tournament 1 still looks pretty and runs GREAT on these new integrated graphics cards, that should keep you busy during a plane ride.)

Its not unfamiliar territory for me though, as my current laptop gives me about an hour and 48 minutes on battery saver. So I know when plugging in is required. The only difference is that this new one will be OH SO MUCH lighter :D

Ozy, if you want this laptop for class, I would recommend, initially, set the laptop to go on hibernate every time the lid is closed, standby 5 minutes with no activity, and get turbo memory (that should result in instantaneous boot up from hibernate). If that still is not helping for a 3 hour class, buy an extra battery, but I honestly won't see the need for it unless you have back to back lectures.

ye its a pain having to wait over a week longer, i think the hard drive issue will turn out ok. I posted on the rock forum about it and they say they have it in stock and should be shipping this week (starting 25th) so i guess its the same for kobalt?

hurry up Heliosvector :D :D as im waiting on your review before i order.
one other thing ive been worried about is the tech support. after having 24/7 support from alienware (it needed it) im a little worried as as far as i know kobalt tech is office hours.

it will be the same for rock. they are just triing to keep the mob happy at the moment. also, their construction time is longer i think as everything goes through regimented stages since their business doesnt really have a personal touch. more of a corporation really.

    @ steveninspokane:

I'm currently trying to decide to go for the Alienware M15x or the M60TU,
since you have/had both, wwhich one would you recommend?

Also which one is thicker? (frontside with lid opened?)
    This because of wrist strains...

And which one has the better sound? (guessing the M860TU)

    The m15x is way thinner.
    The m15x is 1.3in consistent.
    The np8660 is (i think) 1.45 to 1.9in thick.

LOL a your cod4 vid steve. Noob tuber~!

ive got arthritis and the height makes no difference at all.

and skillz, to answer your questions, I haven't recieved my m15x yet, actually it will be deliverd today, and I will post a mini review, perhaps a comparison of the two.

But I would say this, if looks are rather important to you, than I would go with the m15x.

My M860TU is just coming back from the manufacturer today, and I'm nervous like it's the first time all over again.

I bricked it updating the bios, like an idiot. Fortunately, Lynnbay looked out for me and RMA'd the notebook back to the manufacturer.

I'm happy to report that I just tore the box open, and I'm now typing this message on it. According to the packing slip, Prostar had to replace the motherboard.

    My bad!

Seriously though, enjoy your new beast.

I hope you can compare the speakers for me, as sound is important to me.
I've always used the business models of HP before which had good enough sound and recently I got a Dell Studio with the worst speakers ever, which pointed out that sound is kind of important to me.

Since AW is now Dell, I have a bad feeling about the speaker quality.

Also which of the 2 notebooks (M860TU / m15x) makes less noise and is there a big difference between the GTS and GTX?

Edit: Owww, and maybe a picture / some pictures of the 2 notebooks side by side! :)

That's extremly fair to share your experience with us, espescially with the whole story you went through. But that's wrong to say that the .m15x is the worst laptop, since maybe other users didn't had the experience. If the laptop didn't break down, I'm sure you would have been happy.

Just for the sake of clarification... I did say "...that I (which means... ME :)) dealt with...". More, the laptop didn't have any serious problem (appart from heating to above 100ºC), its just that the laptop was really bad and felt like a plastic cheap toy. Just that...

So yes, it was the worst laptop I have ever owned.
