My P775DM3 won't turn on, unless it's plugged in.

My laptop is only roughly 9-10 months old. It won't turn on anymore unless I have it plugged in, battery seems to stay at 95% charged no matter how long it has been plugged in. If I unplug it while it's turned on it shuts off immediately.

    HWinfo64 reported battery status.
    Battery Voltage 16.857V
    Remaining Capacity: 74.148Wh
    Wear Level 2.1%

    2 months ago it was:
    Battery Voltage 16.946V
    Remaining Capacity: 80.29Wh
    Wear Level 0%

Any idea what's wrong? I don't get it why it doesn't turn on, 16.86V 95% charged? Can the battery still be dead somehow, or is something else broken?

Less than a year old, so it may still be under warranty.

Actually, now when looking at the laptop I noticed something else wrong with it, the screen has two vertical "zones" that are noticably darker (mainly in the bottom left) than the rest. If I open a White page it's easy to see. I haven't noticed that Before cause I'm Always using an external monitor.

EDIT: Hmm, someone claimed the screen issue might be fixable. It is darkest in the areas where the default windows 10 background image is darkest. And I've had the windows background showing basically 100% of the time the PC has been on.

Supposedly it's not burn in but something similar that is reversible... I hope so.

EDIT: Well it doesn't seem to be working. I Guess the screen is damaged as well for whatever reason, guess these clevos don't use very high quality parts. Nice way to waste 2800€ (it has 2 SSDs they were pretty pricey).

Well it still does what a desktop would do, at nearly twice the price. Screen sucks and battery isn't working.

Been googling a bit, unless I'm wrong I Think it's most likely the laptop that is faulty. Lots of people that have similar problems can't get their laptops to charge any batteries and if they put them in Another laptop they will charge just fine and the laptop will start when unplugged.

Something is most likely broken that wont get fixed by getting a new battery. This laptop hasn't been much fun. Noisy, hot, (although the delid somewhat fixed that) expensive and now it seems it breaks easily as well.

External displays can develop faults within the first year too. That's what warranties are for.

The battery issue could be the battery or the board. We see more issues at the main board that cause battery problems than issues with the battery itself. You may need to RMA the entire system.

For what it's worth, what you're encountering is the exception, not the rule. I know it leaves a bad taste, just a reminder that these are otherwise robust machines.

Well would be nice if the display had any warrenty, judging by the retailers support page they only offer a measly 6 month warranty for the display. ( https://pc-konsulten.se/vanligafragor/). I thought I was getting 18 months warrenty, that's what it said when I ordered the laptop. I guess not. Didn't say anything about the display having a shorter warrenty period.

Ouch, that is on the short side. Have you already reached out to the seller to see if they'll help somehow, maybe mitigate the cost to replace the LCD?

I just noticed somethign the screen bezel is quite hot under the areas of the screen where it is darker. It's not the exhaust air that's heating up the bezel cause the backside and bottom edge of the screen are not even warm.

Gets a bit less noticable if you turn the brightness to max, but it's still very visible. It used to be completely fine, I never noticed exactly when it happened.

I haven't contacted the store yet, cause my cousin ordered the PC and then I bought it of him, and well... I don't actually have the receipt (yet). Without that I probably ain't getting anything fixed. Still 6-7 months left of the warrenty (of the rest of the PC other than the display,... supposedly), and the PC still works fine besides the battery not working and screen looking kind of crap. The battery and screen are sort related, without a working battery I'm not looking much at the built in screen anyway.

Those two areas will be around where the LED backlight is most concentrated, most monitors will be warmest around there. Perhaps it is over driving the power a bit?

Btw my laptop battery started working again, I didn't send it in for repair or anything. It didn't work for roughly 6 weeks. Then one day I noticed I had unplugged it and the leds on the front were still on, so I tried to push the power button and it booted up without being plugged in. Weird. It's now been working for maybe 3-4 weeks not really sure.

Don't know what was up with that, I tried plenty of times to turn it on without being plugged in but it never worked. I even removed the battery 2-3 times and put it back in in case it somehow didn't make contact but nothing worked. Then it just started working again without doing anything to it. The only thing that changed was that the battery lost a 1% charge every few days or so. But I don't see how that would have affected anything.

If charge builds up in capacitors or static elsewhere it can cause odd behaviour at a guess.
