Im am so royally F****d right now. I have my end of year project due and its on my latop that just died!!! my psu will not charge. I checked the fuse and replaced its fuse several times in order to revive it. I dont suppose anyone knows of some quick fixes for a PSU.
Its my M860tu's psu by the way.

I sure could use a star screwdriver right about now.........

You mean the powerbrick? If yes, I don't see any options except to order one with express shipping.

Personally, when its about PSU not working, I never knew how to work it out and I just ended buying a new one.

    Maybe it´s some component fried...

First, grab one multimeter and check if the adaptor outputs any voltage. If that voltage is lower than the rated one, the problem can be on burn/faulty capacitors. If it don´t output any voltage, check if the fuse has the correct rated amperage/voltage, check all the MOSFETs, main coil, resistors and diodes on the circuit, for visual burn and later test with the multimeter.

These AC/DC circuits are not very complicated, and if you have any basic knowledge in electronics they can be easily repaired.

If you don´t have time for this, try any TV/electronics repair center, one electronics engineer will fix it easily.

    ;)

You could try to buy a powerbrick with the same output in your local store, as far as I know there are even adjustable ones. Might be worth a try, good luck with it!!

You should be able to find so-called universal adapters in your local electronics store - so long as the output on what you find is the same as indicated on your dead PSU, you should be able to use that universal.

well my psu has some stupid star shaped screw so i cant open it, and this is one hefty PSU, so i doubt i would find one with equal output. also, if the alternate psu did not work and actually ended up frying my laptop, it would void my warrant.
I also have no money so ill have to wait for my replacement from kobalt as i should have it covered in my current warranty.

If all you need is your project, get the hard drive out, plug it in another computer and get the data.

You can try to repair the PSU, but dont spend too much time... If it's not obvious, chances are you'll be better off with a new one. You can order one from where you bought your laptop, or if ure lucky, some retail stores have PSUs that could fit your laptop.

So what are the specs on your PSU? The label on the bottom should show both inputs and outputs.

Replacement PSU was shipped today via air DHL so will be with you tomorrow :) Best to leave the PSU well alone, chances are something's fried and unless you know exactly what you're doing it's possible you could damage the laptop.

Indeed thats nice service ! :)

Ordered a notebook from Kobalt a few months ago for a friend, and must say, even tho it got delayed because of memory shortage (not Kobalts fault, but delays are always a bugger :( ), service has been nothing but top notch :) Wouldn't hasitate to use them in the future tbh :)

That's very impressive. I had a similar situation with XoticPC just a couple of days ago. No overnight shipping but they did manage to get my new charger to me within 3 days so shout out to Xotic cuz I would have been completely f****d without it.
