    My Sager NP5790 won't boot anymore... Please help!

    Hi I have a Sager NP5790 with Windows XP Pro installed on it and suddenly when I try to use it it doesn't work anymore. After the windows loading screen comes up it displayed a BSOD which says "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". I have no idea what this means and I can't even go into safe mode (the same message comes up). Can someone please tell me how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

    EDIT: I've tried using the Recovery Console in the Windows XP disc and typed both "fixboot" and "fixmbr" but it still would not start up after the windows loading screen. Please help.

    I've never gotten this error before but a quick google search gave me this:

    Hopefull it's just a messed up boot file like this says and it isn't a hard drive failure.

    Hey thanks for the solution you posted. I just typed in chkdsk /r before I see you message so I'm waiting for it now (it's really taking a while). Hopefully my hard drive isn't broken. :rolleyes:

    Ok. After around 90 minutes of "chkdsk /r" it finally finished and it said it found and fixed 1 or more errors. So after that I restarted and guess what, it worked and this time there is no BSOD. :rolleyes: However, once the windows loading screen finished loading, something is very wrong on the display on my laptop. It's like some sort of corrupted video. So I shut it down and went into safe mode (which it worked) and uninstalled my 163.76 nvidia drivers and installed 163.75 drivers on it and restarted it after that. Now it "really" worked and hell that was a scary experience and I have no idea why it happened...>_<

    You shoud check you hard disk most time i seen error it cause just before hard disk decide to give out

    or be power off when writeing data

    So you're saying it could be my hard disk's problem? If so how do I check my hard disk?

    nothing is really wrong with your HDD, its just good to do a CHKDSK once in a while to look for any errors that can cause future issues.

    As for checking the health of the drive, you should already be using Notebook Hardware Control... which has a built in SMART programming for looking at HDD health and temps.
