Its only been a month and my laptop already has a ton of scratches on the glossy trim around the keyboard. For the amount of money I paid for it, I plan on keeping this nice and clean for as long as possible. So I dumped the scratched-prone black trim and painted it silver to match the outer rim of the laptop. Let me know what you guys think.
Oh yeah, with a coat of gloss to make it shine a little bit![]()

looks nice.
you can just get something like a custom invisibleSHIELD for your entire casing if you want to avoid all scratches... with a lifetime warranty. -
LOL. Actually I have the invisible shield for my iPhone and iPod but not going to do it for this laptop. The beauty of the brushed aluminum is meant to be shown. -

Looks like a Latitude D830 now

Looks pretty good. But may I ask you a question kind sir? How exactly did you scratch the glossy trim?
-
That sure is nice. I scratched the silver border a few times already but the rest is still clean

Thanks every one. It came out a lot better than I thought. As a matter of fact, it came out near perfect and I coudn't be happier.
. The glossy trim I thought was also very scratch proned. Wiping it down a few times and you will start to see small scratches that will just build up over time.

Looks good; nice work!
