Hi all,
I received my Sager PN9150 yesterday and like many of you, tinkered until I was tuckered out, trying to make my AMD 7970M work right. I did fresh OS installs with stock CD drivers. I tried the new stuff online. Nothing worked quite right. I called up Sager to see if they could help me out, after my own attempts and much research failed. The tech on the phone was nice and told me that if I was in the area, I should drop by and they could look at it for me.
I took them up on their offer.
The drive from my location to Sager HQ in the City of Industry, CA, was short and well worth it. Though it took a while troubleshooting, we found what for me was a simple solution. I didn't see this in any of the boards, and forgive me if this is repeat information.
Here's what we did:
1. Install newest available AMD driver.
2. Open up CCC > Preferences > Advanced View > 3D Application settings.
3. For Anti-Aliasing, scroll box down to "Use application settings"
4. Everything else is a troubleshoot for you depending on the game you're playing, but everything I have worked from there.
I know right - how simple? "I've messed with that menu a million times! You're a lying noob for suggesting something so inane!" Well, I'm just saying - try it out. It worked for me. BTW, the driver we used may have something to do with it, though it isn't online anywhere just yet.
Try this out - I really hope it works for you!

Thanks! Great to hear, I'll spread the word.

i have this settings since day 1

yep, that's what my setting was at already. what exactly did this fix for you? did they check for utilization issues?

I doubt it. Like you, I've had these settings since day 1 as well. Soooo frustrating -
This is inane because that's the default setting, application setting.
Lastly, I'd like to know what is work right. We all have 7970M working with Enduro and the game playing, but for many on this forum are having issues with the game sitting at 50-60% GPU usage, no matter what they do. -
Just to clarify, we loaded the beta driver onto his machine. If you would like to do that also (on a test basis), see this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/679568-7970m-8-982rc1-feedback-appreciated.html
at the time we had asked Fwam to not disclose the Beta Driver being loaded, as we were not ready for public release. but seing positive results on his unit. we have decided to release the driver today to get more feedback on additional games.
Again we have to Thank Fwam for allowing us to load a Beta Driver on his new system for testing. -
Sorry, I just had to spread the word. That beta driver is working fabulously as described above.
-
Better watch your temp tho... Sager has posted Crysis 2 ultra test run pictures here and it was running at 100C with the beta driver... Way too hot...
-
so the beta driver will fix the problems, but make everything run hotter?

did you install it after using driver sweeper? or did you just follow Sager's instructions? -
Will do. I mainly play SC2 and dabble with other stuff, so I haven't noticed temps getting out of control. Other games aren't fully utilizing GPU (Skyrim get 25fps on the highest settings). Things aren't perfect, but at least games are using my AMD 7970M, which while not to its fullest, is a major improvement over the problems some are having with the Intel HD4000 being the only card recognized.

Sadly sagers link to the beta drivers has been removed, closed or its plainly not working, whats the news on this?
Fwam comments makes me think he isnt experiencing issues because he doesnt play much, did you try BF3 multiplayer and all the bunch of reported games and issues reported_
following this.
