I just bought a Clevo M570U from Flawless. I have been wanting to post a review but I can't keep it working long enough to do that. Heres my problem.

I received the laptop with no os installed. I began the winxp pro install with my working disc and the laptop starting beeping nonstop, even after the install and even after a reboot. Eventually it stopped but started again and the caps lock and num lock led's began flashing and I think that screen has a slight flicker.

I reinstalled the os and this time it installed with no beeping. I checked the ram and saw that one of the sticks was slightly sticking up and I pushed it back in place and thought that solved the beeping. However when I pushed function f2 to turn on the fans and the beeping started and the caps/num lock led started flashing again.

My questions are why do the caps/num lock blink and why does the motherboard keep beeping nonstop and how do I fix it?

Otherwise the computer seems like it is going to be great.

wow that weird, looks like a short some where.

Something might be loose or not seated properly.

If the beeps and lights flicker, i think the keyboard (cable) might loose... or the key(s) are getting held down.

At the advice of flawless, i removed the ram and put in back in, unhooked the motherboard battery and let it drain for 30mins, and took out the cpu and put in back in. I reinstalled the os and booted it up. I turned the fans on and it worked with no flashing and no beeping and the bios had a different start up screen with a system check in the beginning. I reset the computer and the nonstop beeping and flashing came back. Something fixed it for a second and now its back. Restarting doesn't even turn the beeping off, I have to shut down completely.

its really sounds like something is giving constant commands...

like a held down key on the keyboard.

I don't see any key stuck down or anything like that, and why would it do that some of the time, especially if I turn on the fans? Do you have any suggestions of what I might try? I having been sitting here for a day trying to get it to work.

Ohhhh, not physically stuck, (i knew that). Suggestions? Is there a way to disable the keyboard and get the function f2 command to run so I can see if there is a problem with the keyboard buttons?

Its not the keyboard, OS, ram, or any loose wires. If I cant find a solution by monday I will be forced to send it back. A quick google search tells me that lots of people have beeping/flashing issues with Clevos.....and I thought that they were suppose to be the best.

Should I get my money back and go with a different brand, or just exchange it?

this is definitely rare. I have done many notebooks, all brands, never had a prob like yours.

Its not because its a clevo, its one of the components.

Great, why do I always have to be the unique one. If I can't get it fixed I will be shipping it out monday to get a new one. I swear that my iMac is laughing at me right now. 3 days out of the total of my life using a windows based machine and nothing but problems. I can't believe that I got a windows computer after promoting apple forever and of course it doesn't work.

The onscreen audio display used to show a bar across the bottom when I changed the volume and now even that went away.

this should have been tested before it left the OEMs place.

It might have gotten jostled during transit.

This is not a big problem, its more of a small one that very annoying.

I would not let your hope down yet. Send it back and Flawless should take care of your... with express. :)

Okay, just to clarify. My problems with the M570U are in no way related to Flawless Computers. I have had only the best experience with them. Brian has gone above and beyond in helping me resolve this issue and offered free next day shipping, plus a free upgrade on a brand new system which is something that is unheard of (even from my beloved Apple). Thanks to Brian for his help and the fact that he cares just as much about getting me a brand new computer as I do and I would only recommend Flawless for all your computer needs. My troubles with the computer are only tolerable because of the great communication with Brian and fixing all the problems.

Flawless has just been amazing me on how much a reseller or OEM can do for their customers.

Getting brand new replacement?!? That just never happen with ANY OEM or store... only a company that cares would ever offer such a thing.

The middle small fan does not do anything even when I push function f2 to force on the fans. Should the middle fan be working and could that be causing the laptop to beep/flash at me?

the middle fan should go on, especially if you do the Fn+F2 command.

i am not sure that its causing the problem, or its a symptom of something that is, but...
now I am pretty sure that theres a short somewhere.

sorry for this experience, i would be pretty annoyed as well, but you got Flawless to back you up.

I was just hoping to solve the problem on my own and save me and Flawless the trouble. It seems to be a widespread problem throughout many laptops and different companies. I think that problem is just a faulty connection on the motherboard or gpu.

I think you put it right. Its definitely a "faulty connection" somewhere, from my experience, its something really lame, like a basic cable within.

gophn, in the post that is currently directly below mine "solution to 5760 fan noise" the poster said that if he unplugs the middle ram fan, the motherboard starts a nonstop beep and thats what mine laptop is doing when I try to turn the fan on. That means there is a problem with the fan or its connection, right? Anybody know how to fix or test that fan?

unfortunately, the fan connection is too proprietary to test. You need to have a spare around to be able to swap and test. So the OEMs/resellers have the best chance to single out the problem(s) since they have many of the same parts around them to use.

I definitely agree with you about flawless and Brian's customer service. I had a deferent problem that was determined to be shipping damage. There was a tiny crack in the thin piece of casing right above where the
dvd drive is installed. I sent it back to get fixed or have the case replaced, and two days later I recieved a brand new clevo m570u with free next day shipping from Brian.

Incredible service. If it was not for Brian's customer service, I probably would have sold my clevo, and gone back to apple myself.

Since I have recieved my new clevo, it has been flawless with no problems. I love this beast. It kicks butt in a gaming when it comes to notebooks!!!
