So I have finnaly decided (thanks to Arom lol) , After looking at NP8660,Force 3551 and NP2096. I chose the NP8660![]()
The main change I think i will be doing over basic config are the P9500, 4GB ram, 320GB 5400RPM and Sager 2 Year Parts & Labor Warranty + 30 Day NO Dead
I can't live with dead pixels lol, I just hate them.
The cost 2443$USD at XoticPC and i will probably pay 3000$CAD for that beast... and that is still alot to my eyes... 3000!!! . I am still wondering if there are any better offer that I am not aware of?

if you contact Eurocom (Canada based) directly (by phone or email) they can negotiate the price to match other vendors' quotes.... in CAD of course.

Well, for somewhat similar specs, only a tad bit lower, you can save $1000 US dollars and get a Gateway P7811 FX or Toshiba Qosmio X305, that I have. The Gateway is $1450 and the Toshiba is $1350 on sale from $1550, but it's a best buy exclusive and the sale will end pretty soon, maybe today. The specs on the Toshiba are:
2.0ghz P7350
4GB ddr3 1066mhz
512mb 9700gts, 4th best compared to the Sagers 2nd best. 9800gtx is #1
200gb 7200 RPM Hd
17" 1440x900
Gateway is:
2.26ghz P8300
4gb ddr3 667mhz RAM
200gb 7200 RPM HD
512mb 9800gts, the GT is actually better
17" 1920x1200 screen
Its up to you if you like either one and if the extra $1000 + is worth it for a 2.53ghz cpu, fingerprint reader, pixel policy, 2 year support compared to 1, 15.4inch screen, 9800gt, and sound blaster, etc. -
I would put those money in whitebook. just me tho.

I simply can't see me lugging around a 17" laptop. It seems to destroy much of its portability. Is this true or just a myth that most of us without 17" laptops think?
-
-
I carry around my 17" notebook more than I ever carried around my 15" notebook, and they use the same case. I mostly get around with my mountain bike, and my laptop is in my backpack with me at all times.
Nothing like having a portable 17", especially pulling it out and showing it off.

Well let me put it into prospective; I lug around a 9262 and it's not all that heavy, my math book is actually way heavier.
The other day I tried out the Mac Book Pro 17" at Best Buy and I thought the keyboard flex was rather unsettling, and the lcd screen left something to be desired. Plus the fact that I'm able to actually use my laptop for gaming makes the weight something that's a welcome sacrifice.
In any case the build quality on my Sager is very good, I have no dead pixels (that I know of), and on top of that the paint scheme is very good. It might be bland but it beats Mac's usual paint scheme that a number of major manufacturers seem to be using these days.
I'd like to add that I got my PC from XOTIC PC as well. Their customer service is what you would expect; small vendor. Which makes it very good. I called customer support because my cable modem wouldn't allow access to my 9262. They answered in less than 5 minutes, and solved the problem in 1 minute. (Turned out the modem just needed to be cycled). If you want more assurance than you went the right path. Take it from me, a recent XOTIC PC customer. You just made a bargain my friend. -
The config seems pretty clean. Maybe use the cash discount to save ~$100. I believe it will be less than $3000, maybe $2800 ± $1000 (big estimate). Just pull your calculator, do the conversion + taxes and you'll have a precise price.
My future laptop: Sager NP8660
