Theres been many debates about screen size and type, and I learned that glossy is better for gaming and bad when youre outside. So I decided on a lower resolution to optimize for gaming. Sager is making this decision hard for me, because sager only offers the 1680x1050 screen in MATTE, but offer a higher rez screen that is glossy. Basically I am confused as whether I should get: a lower native resolution for better gaming, but a matte screen, or the higher resolution glossy screen and risk sacrifying game performance. So, what do you guys think I should do? (This is for the np5792 BTW :D)

Think about the lighting of areas you will be using your laptop in. If you're going to be around brightly lit areas, you might do better with the matte screen.

Inside glossy is generally speaking better. It gives more vibrant colors when gaming and watching movies.
Res doesn't matter. Unless of course you must game at your native res. A 1920*1200 screen will do fine running games at lower res like 1680*1050, 1440*900 and 1280*800. My XPS M170 has a screen with a 1920*1200 res and recent games like World in Conflict could only be run a 1440*900 with acceptable performance. Don't worry about the gaming. The only problem I have with a high res screen is that its sometimes hard when you need to read large text documents or websites.

I say go for the 1920 x 1200 if you are going to use your laptop to watch movies or shows etc aswell.. if not just go for the lower res screen..I have a bluray burner in my laptop with 1920 x 1200 and its amazing..

The glossy/matte, which is better for gaming is all personal preference. I game alot and really am uncomfortable on a glossy screen, others feel the same about Matte.

All you can do is go to a best buy or such and see what each are like, and decide then.

If gaming is the only thing holding you back from 1920x1200, then you should just get the 1920x1200.

I've played Oblivion at 800x600 on my old 1920x1200 Dell, and other than the slowdowns that existed because of my ancient but good graphics card (Radeon 9600), it was perfectly fine.

I currently play Crysis on a lower than 1920x1200 resolution and it does fine on my NP5793.
