    My idle cpu usage at 50+% !

    My idle cpu usage has been at 50-55% for no apparent reason, nothing extra is open or running that I know of and it wasn't like this before. Any ideas ?

    What is using it?
    Google the process name and find out what it is.

    Open Task Manager and see the process. Then Terminate it.

    Oh wow I am stupid, thanks guys. I didn't catch this earlier but it was some indexing thing for nero at 50% and higher, not exactly sure what the process was doing but it was nero!

    someone mentioned her name already on this forum, just search for it.
    @harrynom, it used to happened on me every few days with macbook pro, xp under bootcamp, cpu 90% load all of the sudden. What I have to do is reboot into mac then reboot again into XP. it was annoying.

    :O I had same problem with that Nero background program, I disabled it in msconfig and Nero still works fine...

    oh the problem is fixed nirvana, it was some indexing thing from nero running in the background which had 50%+ usage, I just terminated it and everything was fine
