Just got back from a long trip with my sager 5760 from xoticpc.com!! :D The sales went fine however Justin forgot to ship the windows vista home premium along my laptop. I emailed him but still no reply yet and no news of the further shipment..Hope it will be coming soon and he will reply me soon..But im lucky the windows vista did not come yet, because i get to play around with windows xp, which is much faster than the vista installed in my housemates Sony FE!!! Many problems occured when installing the XP such as blue screen of death, not able to install wallpapers, not able to install programs etc etc but thanks to many help i got from Exatrive, Gophn, John, etc etc truely helps me :D thanks NBR!!! The problems solved after i installed windows XP for the 4th time  Ok heres the mini review

    Specs

    -Sager 5760
    -WSXGA+ screen
    -2 gigs of RAM
    -7950GTX GPU
    -intel core 2 duo t7200 2.0mhz
    -100 gig 7200 HDD

    Looks and build

this laptop looks beautiful and guaranteed to turn heads!! It looks much better in real than puctures and its much more profesional and better build than my other choice, the XPS M1710 which feels like a toy..The sager feels tough and stand the hardest beatings but ill definitely not take the risk haha. Overall satisfied with the looks and feel of the product

    Speed

The speed of the device is amazing!! No lags and very fast startup and much faster than my desktop!!! As this is my first laptop, i could not compare with other laptops for speed. However for what i do on my laptop, the speed could not get any faster :D

    Screen

Found 1 dead pixel  but not to be stressed about as its not easily seen. It would cost be a bomb to send it back to the USA to get it replaced. Other than that the screen is bright and amazing!! Clear contrast and colors comes to live. However when viewing internet pages at maximum brightness, the text seems hard o read becos the font is sooo thin. Any ideas how to change the fonts?? With styleXP installed, it became as stylish as vista

    Keyboard

The keyboard is kinda hard to get used to compared to normal regular keyborad, but it can get the job done :D Im also happy it came with full qwerty with the numberpad as it truely makes life easier. I cant imagine buying a 17 inch laptop and not having a number pad.

    Sound

The sound is much louder and better than the sony FE, other than that, i cant say much as i do not know how good laptops should sound, but an external speaker is much adviced for maximum enjoyment ;)

    Size and Weight

WOWW i never imagined how much bigger the 17inch clevo is than a 15.4 inch sony!! this things a beast and is not for the weak hearted!! I carried around campus and overseas and it weights alright for me :D But im 180cm and 80 kgs so maybe thats why. Definitely not for females as it gets really tiring. The size of the screen is great for movie viewing and the keyboard and GPU makes the size totally worth it!

    Heat

The laptop stays cool most of the time. I used fnct + f2 all the time i play games and off it during normal usage. I do not understand why so many people complained about heat as mine never gets hot. After 3 hours playing bf2, with rivatuner, i get 65 degrees C max and not more. HDD and CPU remains constant at 35-50 degress and never more. So its not hot. The AC power however is really really hot!!!!

    3D graphics

I calculated 36mark06 and get a score of 5200-5300 Im not sure whats the usual score i shoud get. I played games such as BF2 and Call of duty 2. With rivatuner and graphics at WSXGA+ resolution with max settings and 2*AA, i got:

    around 70-100FPS on BF2
around 25-40 FPS on call of duty

Is call of duty much more straining than BF2? I thoughs its the oter way around, anyway could not tell the difference between 25 and 100 FPS anyways. Games work fine and could not be more pleased.

    Battery

Using max battery life settings, i could not get more than 1 hour 45 minutes of battery life, This is quite good for my needs but i guess its not good enough for 90% of the users as i leave the laptop mostly on my desk.

    Conclusion

Im totally happy with the product and Justin provides a good service and nice attitude and i thank him for making my choices easier..However i do hope the Vista premium will come as i wil be installing vista and i paid for it :)
Thank you NBR for helping me in all problems and decisions making. Ill answer any questions regarding the purchase :D

Here are some pics of the sager with my ultra large xda exec PDA phone which is like the largest phone available. See how small it compares to the sager :D And my trusty razer krait mouse for gaming and logitech Z3 speaker. :)

Just trying the widowpc stuck pixel fix now. How long would this process usually takes to heal the stuck pixel?

these types of software can fix a stuck pixel can take a hour

if it does not fix it in a hour, than its recommended to run it over night

make sure that the display does NOT turn off, go to screen saver, or standby/hibernate

i would recommend JScreenFix first though.

Another thing, I am glad that you are adamant about monitoring the temps..

....as for your Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to still use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].

I only tell you this since you say you might be using it at one spot most of the time. Keep that battery healthy. :)

I like your smartphone. I almost bought on of those a few months back, but decided not to because of the price.

I guess it is a dead pixel. Is it always dark, rather than being stuck on some color (red, blue, green)?

    Read this (be cautious though):

not really. It is red color dot when there is a black background, however during white background, it disappears

if its a red dot, then its more than likely a stuck pixel. (not 100% sure though)

dead pixels usually have no color (always missing dot on any background)

Yeah, that sounds like a stuck pixel. When I first got my desktop LCD monitor, it had a stuck blue pixel (only on dark backgrounds, not on white). I also tried leaving Jscreenfix on all night, and everything else I could try, and nothing seemed to work. But amazingly, after a week or two of regular use, the stuck pixel slowly became less and less obvious, until it became completely "unstuck". There's still hope for your screen. :)
