I got it last week and it's awesome. The only thing I can't get working is the turbo memory. I installed the drivers first from the disk and when I open the memory console everything is grayed out. Then I tried the updated drivers from Intel's website and I get the same thing. Anyone else having this problem or know what I can do?

    Thanks for any help.

Are you sure that you have Turbo Memory installed at all?

If you mean the actual card then yes, I had to open it up to install the memory and HD and I saw it. Also in the device manager it shows up but there is a yellow warning thing that says the device couldn't start.

    Try reading this http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3009

Been looking for an hour now on Google about your issue and cant find anything

Just a thought: Check under your BIOS and make sure that for some unknown reason that the SATA configuration is set to AHCI default instead of Compatibility mode....?? or tell the driver to over write the existing driver...Im sure we'll be seeing more of these issues when people start adding Intel TM to their systems...Ive heard that Sony and HP are saying NO WAY as for now on the line ups to have Intel TM

Interesting article, I'll do some tests myself (if I can get it to work) to see if thats true.

I looked in my BIOS and under advanced chipset features turbo memory was disabled. So I enabled it and now I get a BSOD every time vista starts.

    There is nothing wrong,

you are getting the blue screen is because you are changing the HDD controller mode.

AHCI vs NON-AHCI windows would not know how to boot into the differnet HDD controller as the OS can not be loaded. just like RAID vs. NON-RAID

in order for turbo memory to work you need to be under AHCI mode, so in order for theos to work correctly the OS needs to be installed under AHCI mode.

i also talked to sager techsupport and there are no HW bugs related to turbo memory 1GB modeuls, only a software delay that is fix pending but the functions are all fine. here http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/itm/sb/CS-025852.htm

you would have to reinstall windows with AHCI enabled in the bios.

windows wouldn't default itself to any HDD controller mode, it would depend on what mode it is set on during install. as it's what it founds during the text install mode. and if you change tha after windows has been installed. it wouldn't be able to boot itself up as it would be loading the wrong HDD controller driver.

what i had to do is go into the bios and enable it first. then i could not get it to read the vista disc so i chanaged the boot order to cd first and it read it just fine. re-installed vista and then started all the drivers etc.. everything is fine now. wierd thing is it seem to almost take time for the turbo mem to work right?? the longer i used it the better / faster less jerky it seemed to run?? this is weird

Read this article here: **read down to page 3, but I recomend reading the whole thing**
    http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3009

Mem. Turbo has to learn your habits in a way....but its still to new of a tech and Im sure Intel and MS is working on to expand its efficiency later on down the road....Sony and HP ain't throwing in MT in their notebooks for now, but maybe will change their minds down the road: Ya can read all about it here: http://www.tech.co.uk/computing/upgrades-and-peripherals/motherboards-and-processors/news/sony-and-hp-ditch-intels-turbo-memory?articleid=2121786775

i have this listed in advanced...

    intel robson enabled
    sata - device 31, function 2: enhanced

    dforom (robson) support enabled.

does this mean mine is one? I can't even DISABLE any of the selections. it's greyed out.

yes it is on. if you can boot into windows and you do not get blue screen than it is on. ill check mine and see if they are greyed out. did you install the actual intel robson cd that came with it or just the driver from the sager disc?

i had to do a full reinstall today due to not having ahci on when i did the first install ..

I have the same problem. I sent an email to Xotic and they replied (in like 3 minutes, wow) with this:

I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I would pass this along.

I emailed XoticPC for clarification on what "re-load windows" meant. Did they mean "re-install" or "re-boot"?

To my dismay they actually wanted me to RE-INSTALL Windows Vista! DO NOT DO THIS as it is unnecessary.

Here's how I got around this:

    1. Go into Windows and apply this Microsoft recommended registry patch

    2. Reboot and press F2 to enter the system BIOS.

    3. On the Advanced screen, enable Intel Robson

    4. Press F10 to save and exit.

    5. Boot into Vista and re-install the Intel Turbo Memory driver found on the drivers CD at D:\Others\07Robson\setup.exe

You will likely need to reboot several times once the driver is installed to see both checkboxes appear in the Intel Turbo Memory Console. DO NOT check any of the boxes in the console manually ( read here for more).

My Intel Turbo Memory (i.e. Robson) now works fine in my shinny new Sager NP5791!

Sure, re-installing Windows would fix the problem too, but that's like being told "re-format your hard drive" when asking the question "How do I delete a file?". I can't beleive that they are telling people to go to all of that work just to enable AHCI under Vista when there is a simple registry fix. For shame.

Nice info Donavon.....finally a fix for this issue with out the same ole same ole "re-install" windows answer. Xotic should be making sure Intel TMworks before they ship out a product....wonder why its getting pass them....kinda suprised that there not doing this...after all you are paying an extra 35 bucks and having it installed on your unit, and it should be tested before it ships, what happens if a TM unit gets installed and its KAPUT??!! The testing needs to be done before the customer recieves the product, I mean why have a testing stage when your not gonna test everything on the NB....just my humble rant, but xoticpc is still a great company with excellent customer service

To be fair to XoticPC, I ordered my unit *without* a hard drive so there was little they could have done. I only fault them for their "you must re-install Windows" generic response.
