    Well, I got my preorder of the 5796 from XoticPC today (btw, thanks Xotic for making the preorder transition fairly painless).

    So far, I couldn't be happier with the machine. I've never used Vista before so it will take a little bit getting used to, but the machine is overall very sweet and I'm so happy I decided to go with this model. I've never owned a laptop other than a work laptop with crappy onboard video, so this machine with a 9800M GT and a really nice processor is amazing so far. This will be great in my travel overseas in the upcoming months!

    So, I know you all have been wanting to see some benchmarks and here you go. This is a stock configuration except I plopped in a Hitachi 7k200 instead of the base 160gb that was given to me.

    P9500 @ 2.53ghz
    9800M GT
    4GB DDR3

    3D Mark06 score of 9320.

    Not bad considering my current dekstop that I play games on scores around 3500 and my other laptop that I play WoW on scores about a 400 :)

    9320 is good, that is what people got with the 8800mgtx and T9500, so the 9800m gt so far = 8800mgtx in terms of synthetic benchmarks. Could you do us all a favor. press Fn+1/ Fn+3 and see if the fans change speed. Also Press the silent mode button on the top the 3rd hot key button, next to power button and see how quiet the fans get. I know alot of people are wanting to know about the fan noise and the silent mode button

    lol didn't expect this kind of response so fast.

    I won't be able to give you a review on the fan noise until I get to work tomororw. My apartment has way too much background noise and it's terribly difficult to notice differences in noise levels.

    Well, this is my first "performance laptop" so I'm not sure I'm the best to review the fan. At idle, there is very little sound. When I load into a game, the fans kick on higher and are definitely quite audible but with the sound of the game on, I don't hear the fans unless I'm trying to hear them.

    Fn+1 doesn't seem to do anything and Fn+3 is for volume mute. I don't have the manual with me to see what else I can try.
