My notebook is in for repairs with rock since 1st May. I just read all this about administration and they're not answering their phone!

What happens to my machine if its their when they are liquidated?
Should I try get them to return it to me without repair so I can organise a repair with this insurance company they mention??
-
I guess your first priority should be getting the notebook back and ASAP. Then think of repairs.
Oh, and welcome to NBR! -
-
I'd just call the credit card company, site the 'administration' thing and tell them they currently have your laptop and you cannot contact them.
-
yah, if you can't get throught call the credit card company.
-
I would initiate a charge back call to your credit card company as soon as possible. If a company is going under and becomes the property of liquidators then depending on the laws of the host country, you could be in for a long ride before seeing your notebook again.
Also, welcome to NBR, I have found this place to be full of very knowledgeable people who have helped me a lot and it is just a very friendly place. -

Hi MarcusO welcome to the forums
Right went on their website (because funnily enough my Son has one in for repair)
what year of warranty is your machine in?
if its the 1st Year, contact your credit card company immediately and explain the situation, and get a refund started.
If its 2nd or 3rd year, then the warranty is insurance backed, and the administrators are in talks with the insurance company already.
My son was told earlier this week that he would be receiving a new laptop because his old Ti was unrepairable. I can see he is in for a fair wait now.
please let us know how you get on and I will keep everyone posted with whatever I find out.
and if I ever meet the employee that stole £200,000 worth of gear from them causing the cashflow problem in the first place, he is going to get a good kicking!
hopefully they will get a buyer, and hopefully it will be Novatech, they are very friendly and down to earth, and I would recommend them if anyone is looking for an equivalent machine to the xtreme 770.
Good luck -
Ahh, in terms of repair, I'd worry about that later; in terms of getting the machine back - you own it, not Rock, so the receivers and the administrators cannot sell it; however, in the hectic madness of a receivership or, god forbid, a liquidation, things can get lost really quickly. If you cannot visit the storefront in person, write a letter requesting the return of your machine, sent registered mail, return receipt requested (or whatever the UK version of that is), to both Rock and to the receivers/administrators, and, last but not least, see if you can find out the contact details for the receivers/administrators and contact them by phone or in person. Be ready to give them the system's serial number and/or product number so that they can (a) be sure that you're not just trying to scam them and (b) easily identify the machine and return it to you. You may also have to file some sort of paperwork for a claim, in the absence of which you may be at risk of losing the machine, particularly if it gets sold by accident, so make sure you ask about that.

Another update is up for customers if you havnt seen already: http://www.rockdirect.com/viewNews.php?NEWSID=108
This one will clear it up a little more for you marcusO -
Ouch, that`s a nasty situation.
But as Shyster1 pointed out so nicely , YOU OWN the machine so regardless, you have to get it back.
About the repairs, that`s gonna be hard... -
My guess would be that, if you cannot go in person, you could probably arrange for a third-party delivery company to pick it up for you and deliver it to you provided you paid their fee. -
Well I think the whole wording of all of what they have written suggests something very negative for the customers. Its all maybe's and might's. They havnt even said that they would definately have the warranties backed up yet ><
I just hope they find a buyer... else all customers are in big trouble -

hmm interesting, must contact my son about that update
thanks for that, that will show me that going to bed early is a bad idea -
Hmm, things certainly don't look good. My notebook is in year 3 of the warranty so it'll hopefully be covered if worse comes to worse. Not sure about arranging a pickup, I'm in Ireland so it'd be an annoying bill! I might ride it out a few days and see what happens.
On the plus side, one of the rock support guys called me to explain the situation yesterday after I asked him to ask the administrators about it. Amazing that the staff are still so friendly! -

I would think that a lot of the staff would be dedicated to customers, as if there is a buyout they would like to be taken on and continue employment.
but its good that staff are still talking, in such uncertain times
my sons is also in year 3 so if it all fails, it will be an insurance payout
the only problem there is if the policy pays enough to replace the machie with a new one.
here's waiting a few days
apparently they have buyers according to the post on the main website, so lets hope they are putting in good enough packages
I swear if I will millions on the lottery I will give them a call, would save me starting a notebook business from scratch.
My notebook is in for repairs with Rock!!!
