I briefly talked with a Mythlogic Customer Service guy today. He gave me their whole selling point, that they create their own laptops, unlike everyone else who just resells Sagers.

They look great, and I really want to use them, but my only issue is that they only have 2 ratings on resellers and nothing with BBB.

So, anyone have a review or feedback on them? Is there a thread somewhere with reviews/feedback? I tried searching "mythlogic" but nothing came up.

    Thanks

I can't say anything about the final product as I'm still waiting on mine. I can tell you though that through the entire ordering process they have been more than helpful with answering all my questions (and there have been a lot of them). They made sure any changes I wanted to make as well as anything I was looking for was gotten for me, quickly I should add. Through the customer service so far at this point I would go with them again next time I'm looking for a laptop.

I doubt that it is their major selling point, since it seems to be an obvious overstatement.

I got mine from mythologic and it benches better than epsilon's from Malibal... Lol

I've had a good experience with them though so far. I like the understated blank back cover with mythologic on the bezel and also the mythologic mousepad/gaming surface screen protector that fits on the keyboard. Nice leather cd case too.

Oh yeah beautiful screen upgrade one of the best lcds I've ever seen and viewing angles are amazing I can use it standing or sitting from the same screen angle and see from almost 180 degrees from either side.

    Experience thus far, is EXCELLENT!

Shot 'em lots of ???'s... Myth's humorous punchlines come out from time to time. :D

My Pollux 1611's goin' into build in a matter of day or two... And soon to be shipped halfway around the globe, after more than normal burn-ins and testings.

I kinda like the idea if a small company, building & testing stuff from within their walls, ceilings and floors!

Hope to post impressions when the 1611 (plus, freebies?) arrives.

Well, I think the OP probably paraphrased them because they make it quite clear that they build their laptops from a Sager-provided Barebones system.

I also agree with everyone else in the thread that you can't beat their customer service and attitude. They have a very good feel for their customers and seem to be in the same age/humor category as me as well. When I spoke to them they seemed like people I wouldn't mind having a beer with sometime, lol.

My laptop shipped a few days ago, but will take a little while to get to me because of my location.

I highly recommend this company, even more so now that people on the board are receiving the final product and commenting that it is definitely commensurate with everything else we've seen from their company so far.

My vantage score is a bit higher than yours, and I'm almost 300 points higher in 3DMark 11 as of the thread I posted in the 8150 owners lounge :p

Mine is still higher in 3DMark 11 after I updated drivers and did a bit of tweaking :)

I guess I should install the new drivers and run the benchmarks again then. :D Are you running 270 now?

Re-ran with the new drivers and got within 5 points of you. 2967 marks in 3dmark11 with stock settings. Haven't done any tweaks to the laptop other than installing the drivers.

I don't think an SSD affects scores at all though, 3DMark only tests CPU and GPU, not the hard drive.

I can't speak as someone who has one of their systems in hand but I can speak as someone who physically toured their store/shop yesterday (I live in Ann Arbor very close to them).

The workers were very knowledgeable and patient with me and my wife and showed us the systems they were testing while answering all our dumb questions. One of the workers spent a large amount of time running over one of the displays with a giant magnifying glass looking for dead pixels, when he found one that was only visible with the magnifying glass he said he had to reject it.

They were also willing to take one of their systems outside in the sunlight to demonstrate their incredible matte finish on the system. I didn't want to shell out $200 just so my wife could read facebook under a tree but it the display was impressive enough in sunlight that I went for it anyway.

The parts they use are high quality parts and honestly I don't agree with their business model, I don't see where they make their profit compared to a laptop factory like Dell, but whatever. We ended up ordering one of their laptops and hopefully they'll be as gracious delivering it as they were in taking my money :)

Well, a lot of dell's costs actually go to maintaining the whole infrastructure for their warranties... I had 3 visits of around 2 hours for rebuilds on my system at $35 per hour + deductibles for their workers plus almost 2 full systems worth of parts because their tech support has no idea what's going on and I could just ask for everything in the system and they had no interest in finding what is actually wrong.

I'm assuming Mythlogic would not do the same and would send you parts to repair yourself and they wouldn't send you parts for a whole new system for something that is diagnosable remotely by someone with more than the minimal training to man a call center in India.

Not that I don't see where Dell is coming from, in that labor savings from Indian call center likely makes up for the extra parts...

I have a close acquaintance that works in tech support for Dell and he is very knowledgeable, however he doesn't really get the chance to put his expertise to use. He gets a que of customers to visit on a daily basis (usually a very large one) and all of the replacement parts are already shipped in mass from Dell without any real investigation by the tech. Because the bigger Dell company/management decides to wholesale replace everything anyway based off of the customer's requests he tends to not waste time away from his family troubleshooting a motherboard with a voltmeter that is just going to be replaced 2 days later because the customer is upset and impatient. The customer is actually more capable of getting parts out of Dell than he is. He could tell his boss that the laptop requires a new hard drive, but he has a better chance of getting it for the customer if he tells them to call Dell tech support and complain about the hard drive. He only takes his time and gives extra attention to the people he likes.

Yep I gave my Dell guy a shot of Johnny Walker Blue :) we were chatting the entire time and basically talking about computers. He told me what error codes to give support if I wanted my ram and cpu replaced lol but I already have a brand new machine except for those two parts so no point in pushing it too far, they might break something else.

3 visits 2 guys came, second visit guy actually stripped a hard drive screw and I had to carve a notch into it with a knife before being able to get it out... Some guys are better than others I guess.

true.. i kinda feel like i'm taking advantage of dell when they send me basically a whole new computer when all i wanted was an optical drive or a new mobo lol.

i feel like i'll have a better relationship with the people at myth, so i wont have to worry about taking advantage. i'll be like hey, my video card is out. they'll diagnose, and if it is indeed broken, i'll get a new one :) at least i hope it's that simple lol

I'm glad you enjoyed your tour, and we are always glad to show people what we do here =) We hope that you will enjoy your laptop.

We try and make it that simple, thats a nice benefit of not having 18 layers of management to authorize a replacement part. We ALL have that power :D
