Interesting, but I don't think it's worth the money for what amounts to basically a backlit keyboard and optimus. And you couldn't do it anyway, with that 6990M. I wonder if malibal is going to offer something like this. If the GTX680M comes out and np8150s can't upgrade, I would definitely consider moving up to the EM.

 

I know I wouldn't and couldn't because of the 6990m, however for the options of moving from a 17" to a 15" and vice versa, re-spec the screen and other parts they may have missed.

Yea we can upgrade any part when you have the laptop in. Can't put every part on there, and if you want to swap out the GPU for something else you can too. We're working on trying to get the 6990m up and running, but it might be a 6990m doesn't have switchable built in, but we have some new drivers coming in monday to see if we can get it up and running.

And yea its basically for the backlit keyboard and optimus, but remember that you can then be assured you get full support for the 7970/7990 and also the 680m too.

 

Just to ask, the trade-in is only for the Mythlogic branded laptops, correct?

 

if only this were possible with p180, i miss the backlit keyboard on my old macbook pro...about this only thing i do miss about it! actually i lied that machine served me well for 4 or so years

 

Now if Josh had something like this for my Pollux 1411 to upgrade it to at least the 555m version, I'd be set

 

You keep the old shell =) Our customers just get a discount on the parts and the labor fee's waived. They still keep the old shell

I'd bet it wouldn't be too hard to sell a shell. Idk what to tell you to price it as, but there are plenty of people that would probably toy with modding a shell if they could get one at a fair price..

 

Mythlogic's discount for 3% cash or military... is that as I read it? One or the other? Or can you combine both?

I got a question. It's kinda related! What about screen upgrades/downgrades? Let's say I'm interested in Nyx 1712 but I would want a lower resolution - say 1600x900! If I could buy the screen and ship it out to you guys, would you install it?

Yea thats no problem. We absolutely do that. People send us parts all the time to install for them, we can't warranty any parts we don't sell but we'll certainly put them in and run them through the same intensive testing as everything else =)

 

dam myth, you are on top of things. makes me glad to have purchased my laptop through them. might consider it when specs/price for 680m come out, if it's overpriced then a ssd will do.

YES, looks like latest 03 bios added GTX680M and AMD HD7970M support and thus AMD support in general...

 

It added 660m support and 7970m support. It fixed the issue with the 6990. 680m support is still to come.

BTW , EM bios has SO-DIMM tables for 2133-2400-2667 listed...that´s what I call future proof...lol

We know some people want the smaller native resolution for their screens for a variety of reasons. We've gotten the request before, and its no biggie.

Its automatic, you can override it also if you want.

Of course its all with windows 7. We had to work with AMD to get some running drivers. We didn't just grab the switchable set with windows 8

And runs find with 32GB of RAM

 

Um... Can you upgrade the failed ODD/cable in my W870CU to a working ODD/cable? Apparently I just started getting thousands of "Event 11, cdrom: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom0." errors. :-/

Update: It seems to be working again. Apparently I needed to try turning it off, waiting a while, and turning it on again? I'm going to blame Virtual Box for getting it into a bad state, but I don't really have enough evidence to prove it. Hopefully it won't happen again.

 

How long until Mythlogic starts taking upgrade orders for those of us with 6990ms?

 

Hey it should be possible to replace the parts, as long as its the cable/drive and not the port on the motherboard

Its for anyone, but mythlogic owners like myself get it for cheaper

 

There's not really anything to upgrade to yet if you have a 6990m.

Yeah, after I talked to them, they told me it would make more sense to wait until the 7970m comes out and upgrade that as well.

 

I've been looking at this program since my laptop appears to be out of warranty and needs a chassis replacement. I have an NP8130 and these appear to be the options:

Pollux 1511 / NP8130 / P151HM -> Pollux 1512 / P151EM
Pollux 1511 / NP8130 / P151HM -> Pollux 1612 / P150EM
Pollux 1511 / NP8130 / P151HM -> Pollux 1712 / P170EM

Pollux 1512 / P151EM -> $600 + $125 Labor + S&H
Pollux 1612 / P150EM -> $725 + $125 Labor + S&H
Pollux 1712 / P170EM -> $775 + $125 Labor + S&H

What actually gets upgraded in this case and what gets kept from my old unit? Do I get a new motherboard/GPU that's Optimus enabled with the upgrade?

 

Case, LCD, and Motherboard. You also get a new AC Adapter and Battery

We re-use your existing graphics card. So the 460m you have will be the 460m thats in the EM.

Pollux 1712 / P170EM -> $775 + $125 Labor + S&H

No it does not, thats the cost of a new shell, reusing your existing video card. You can upgrade your video card to something else if you want, however, that would be extra.
