Hey ive noticed a dramatic rise in the heat levels of my 9800m GT GPu in my m860tu/np8660over the past month...

ive had my laptop for 2months now i think

at first the GPU would sit at 50ish with desktop operations and the fans would not be running that high..

now the GPU at desktop use runs at about 60-65 and the fans are always quite high <_>.... i have changed my Drivers quite abit of late so mabye its that.... and i also took it around to afue lans and prob tossed it around quite abit...

i have a feeling that the GPU heatsink may have got shaken around...

Or possible i have a dust build up beacuse my house is quite dusty.. but then again the Weather has got alot hotter in australia the past fue days...

Im just abit worried and wonder if any one could give me advice..

Will drivers alone have this affect beacuse if its hardware i may have it go looked at... its not getting 2 hot in crysis like 80max i think.. but yes... for the first 2weeks my m8660 was running ALOT cooler .. like 10 points.

clean out the vents with compressed air.

then open the bottom panel and check if the heatsink is loose or not.

I have noticed that after upgrading some drivers, the GPU reached higher temperatures.
Just open the laptop and give a good clean to the fan... I'm sure it will be fine.

drivers can affect your temps too. i tried a couple drivers that lowered my temps ~5* but standby didn't work after that. there were also a few that raised the temps a couple of degrees.

as ive said many times before, if it aint broke dont fix it. in other words why change drivers if its working fine.
i must admit i did load the heat driver a few days after i got it as everyone was raving about how it brought their temps down. mine actually went up slightly.
im now brousing and my HD and GPU are both on 40c (me likes that) :)

also as you say its hot in australia then that certainly can help towards pushing them up. its kin cold here in the uk so thats also helping to keep mine quite low.

    what readings you getting milcs?

All my components are around 50ÂșC on idle. Which is quite good, I believe...
    Actually, I think it's great!

Stop playing around with the Aero Switch between windows! :p

Just kidding. I think some dust bunnies might have gotten in your laptop. It happened to my extremely perked up Toshiba laptop also that was flat on the desk. Not happening with the m860tu though, perhaps it might be due to the cooler.

That reminds me, let me clean out this cooler. It must be collecting all the junk. :)

im running a DVI external 1920x1200 display and im using the Alienguise Mycolors Vista skin... both could effect desktoptemps .. as my ingame temps seem to still cap off at 77-80ish ...
ill try some non external temps later and turn off the Vista skin

my temps used to be all on 50 as well... now my GPU and CPU are higher (hotter GPU would make the CPU hotter tue to the cooling set up)...

hummmm im abit worried as i can tell there is actualy very little dust inside...

I guess ill crack it open and have a look in a week or2... i really want to get the temps as low as possible for World of Warcraft Wrath of the lich king... beacuse ill prob be palying that for 14hours + a day for a month or 2... :p so i dont want a pancake in my hands... humm as long as its under 90 i dont really mind thou which it seems to always be
