Hey people I hope you are all well. It's been almost 2 weeks since I've got in my hands the NH55AFW. In overall I'm very happy with it, but there's a major issue.

Just for the records it's equipped with:
    Ryzen 9 3900
    RTX 2070 refresh
    32gb Samsung 2666mhz
    1tb m.2 970 evo plus
    1 tb crucial mx500

I'm experiencing very high temperatures mainly while gaming with "Dishonored 2".
The cpu peaks at 98°C and the GPU at 80°C(those are the Temps I managed to record)
I'm ALWAYS using it with a cooling pad(GXT 278 Yozu) and in an Airconditioned room.
The laptop after some time (depending on the graphic settings used ganing) blacks out while the fans keep working. My guess it forces the system to collapse to prevent damaging from overheating.
While I still haven't figured out for sure whether is the CPU or the GPU that causes this, my guess is the GPU.

Anyone that knows anything about this? Any solutions? Is it normal?

Those laptops needs a lot of tuning like undervolting the CPU and GPU.
You have to repast both with a well known thermal past and replace the thermal pads as well. You should talk with your reseller before doing anything to make sure it will not damage your warranty.

Might be a bad pad contact on a vrm.

Thank you for your response. Maybe does it have to do with the drivers or something?

Before uru proceed to repaste on the cooling section, try outrout the hack for Ryzen systems mentioned in other threads to disable performance boost on the CPU first, to achieve temperature tone down between 15~20°c, then observe the temperature reading on the GPU side.

What hack is that? I'm not familiar with it. Do you know the name or the thread mentioned? Thanks

Sorry for the missing words. Damn mobile bug, every time when i press the backspace, some words gets cut off or misplaced...

When i was pointing to, is the Registry Hack that's mentioned in several video reviews on different models. Check out Bob Of All Trades review on the Zephyrus G14, and Own or Disown's follow up review on the DELL G5SE.

Well, it seems undervolting won this one.

I spoke with frits from laptopparts4less and I was told that it is OK to use msi afterburner for GPU undervolting and the famous amd ryzen master for CPU undervolting.

I used the msi afterburner and set a profile to 1500mhz straight line from min voltage to max. The results were from 72°C+ GPU temperatures to 66°C.
I only did the benchmarks stressing and a little gaming just for the test. So I'll update for more realistic tests later on.

As for the AMD Ryzen master, I created a profile, cut down the voltage to 1,2v; set the CC0 to 4200mhz, the CC1 to 4100mhz and voila. The system finally breathed. Lower CPU temperatures and less fan noise.
I didn't put a lot of effort so, I'm sure I can create a more efficient and faster stable system.
Not a lot of tests were made, but I think if I didn't nail it yet, I'm pretty close.

Here are some screenshots that I took during the tests:

Max temperature at 61°C (after gaming 67°C- before undervolting was +72°C

I'm super new to MSI Afterburner and a bit of a noob to the whole overclocking scene. I have the same config as you (3900 and 2070 on the Clevo) and wanted to know how to replicate your MSI afterburner settings.

Send me your email in a personal message so I could send you a video or something.

Check this video for the key mapping of the msi afterburner:
