I recently bought a NP 2098 its great, the resolution isnt that much of a bother ether. runs games great too.

I need help because i recently uninstalled my ATI videocard drivers to try to update them so then i found out after updating them i could not get the max resolution that the screen came with. so I reformated and went back to the one it came with. but now after reformating i come upto a black screen saying AHCI Tools asking to enable it or not, i tried both and i dont see a way to go after that so i turn it off and after i reboot it continously goes into a blue screen when windows try's to boot

anyone know how to get past the AHCI tools screen, so i can just get my computer to work?

Which OS are you trying to reinstall? I can give you a hand better if you mention that. I am running Windows 7 and never had to deal with that screen. I think you will need to make an AHCI driver disk or USB key.

Good luck getting help with the 2098 here... it's the red-headed stepchild of these forums. Lord knows I've tried.

I've noticed a distinct lack of threads/information about this particular model, and I was looking at it for a light/medium gaming rig in the < $1,000 price range. Why is it that there is so little discussion and information about it?

It's kind of an oddball laptop. It's just... too average? I think a lot of people either have a bigger, smaller, lighter, or more powerful laptop than the 2098. And the 16:9 screen isn't popular. Compals don't get nearly as much attention as Clevos. On the Compal subforum people are still talking about IFLs and HELs.

More powerful for the price range? I think I had it specced with a P8700 and 500GB 7200rpm HDD for like $875?

The 4650 card seems pretty good at that price range too, no?

I realize it's never going to compete with the 8662 for performance, but it is also $600 cheaper, and the specs look pretty good at that price range, but it's hard to judge its performance with so few testimonials out there.

I'm no fan of MSIs but the 628 looks marginally more expensive but I think has better performance. :|

I like the 2098 but the Sager Compal models always seem to be the black sheeps [well they are in a way].

For the price, the NP2098 isn't too bad.
