Just got my np8662 a few weeks ago, and I'm extremely pleased with one small exception.

When I'm typing, some keypresses are completely missed by the keyboard. I'm getting used to the fact I need to press a little harder on this keyboard, and that's not the issue. I did a couple searches on the forums, and some people mentioned that updating their KB firmware fixed their issues, but my laptop came with the newest Bios and KB already loaded...

If it matters, I'm using Windows 7 x64, the final version (thank you MSDN). I've loaded all the appropriate drivers (Nvidia WHQL, the Intel Chipset and Matrix drivers, and let windows update deal with most of the rest).

    Any suggestions?

I just had mine serviced a few weeks ago for warranty stuff, and they replaced the keyboard with a brand new one - so it should be the same as yours. I'm also running Windows 7 x64, and haven't had any issues...

keyboards interface with the system at a lower level, so updating firmware or drivers shouldn't be needed... really odd problem you're having

a suggestion from left-field: are you on a fresh install, no bloatware? Be wary of keyloggers/trojans, this is one of their behaviours.
If you want to be certain, load up another OS (i.e. Ubuntu) from flash stick/CD and test out the typing there.

It's definitely a fresh install, and I removed the majority of the unneeded services. So, if there's bloatware, I'm not seeing it.

Are they always the same keys, or are they different keys each time? If they're the same keys, the registering film under the keys might just be weak/damaged. How fast do you type? If you're lingering over your keys, you might have multiple keys pressed at the same time, especially since you need to hit keys harder than you're used to. If I remember correctly, many keyboards can only register up to 3 keys pressed at the same time, so if you're typing very quickly and lingering or holding down certain keys, they may not release in time for the next keypress to register.

They're definitely different keys each time. There's almost no rhyme or reason to the whole thing.

I do type rather quickly, though I'm a hunt and peck typist. I know...I should know how to type by now. It isn't the issue of too many keys being pressed at the same time, because I've tried slowing down a bit and keys still get missed somehow.
