Yeah I finally got my game back to do some benchmark demos, took almost 1 hour to run, the only concern I have is that the GPU topped at 81 c but thankfully they cooled down to 62 c after a few minutes.

Yes i am running RAID 0 with 3 Hard Drives, originally had RAID 5 but had got poor scores on HD TUNE so I switched to RAID 0 for much better results.

14,890 3DMARK06 on stock drivers, ZOIKS!!!! Nice work. +Rep up!

I can remember not too long ago (last year, in fact), 10,000 3DMARK06 was the threshold. 15,000 here we come!

Im gonna have to run the same benchys as you when my machine comes in. Looks like we will have roughly the same rig except you have sli and I will have the gtx. Will be curious to see how they compare.

What op/sys are you running? Did you tweak with any of the nvidia settings? eg, performance vs quality kind of things? or app specific settings?

    "Run#5 1900x1200 No AA Average FPS--29.425"

Good results... about right for Vista I think. This run is popular here so you'll be able to find many results to compare yours with including a few with OC'd GPUs. You didn't mention it, but I assume the quality settings were on high.

Gophn whats your take on this, I don't think we've seen scores so high before is this the 3ghz quadcore improving the scores or more updated drivers?

Actually, yes the CPU does play a huge roll in a total score of 3DMark06... which I may add is a multi-threaded program to utilize as many cores as you have. :)

That is why I usually tell people to post their screenshot and/or the SM2.0 & HDR/SM3.0... which is what should be used for GPU comparisons.

The CPU Score should be treated separate.

take a screenshot, save it as JPG, and you can either:

    Through NBR:
"Go Advanced" button > Attach the pics to the post

    Through image host:
    - www.imageshack.us (easiest)
    - then post the link/thumbnail of the image

Oh... well Crysis, does show that CPU clocks are important... even though its not fully multi-threaded.

I did my tests during the beta of Crysis.

    I ran a 1.8GHz Opteron 165 with and old Nvidia 6800 GT....
    - all low settings (1024x768) = playable 20fps, but lags during intense moments

    I OC'ed it to 2.6GHz...
    - all low settings (1024x768) = playable 30fps+, NO lags during intense moments

So yes, CPU will help out... even more if the game/app is fully multi-threaded

Hey I am new to all this computer stuff, just really got into it a few months ago.
And there is NO WAY I could type and remember all this stuff, I just learned how to add screen shots with the snipping tool about 10 minutes ago.
I am still learning how to do all this stuff.
Everything I learn and do on my PC's is all by trial and error, so cut me some slack..lol :)
I am one of those people who don't read owners mauals and just get my hands dirty.
Some more 3DMARK06 scores and ORB WORLD page with results.

there is something wrong with your dx 10 scores. there is no way you are getting such high fps counts. make sure you post the average fps and not the max fps.

edit; want to post my benchmark results for comparison. i am surprised that you are not getting better fps at wuxga in dx9 than my rig since you have the faster cpu. maybe it is vista64 bogging you down.

800x600 all high dx9 = 49.16 fps avg. single gpu

1280x960 all high dx9 = 31.91 fps avg. single gpu

1440x900 all high dx9 = 29.62 fps avg. single gpu

1680x1050 all high dx9 = 23.37 fps avg. single gpu

1920x1200 all high dx9 = 18.86 fps avg. single gpu

800x600 all high dx9 = 43.50 fps avg. sli enabled

1280x960 all high dx9 = 41.67 fps avg. sli enabled

1440x900 all high dx9 = 38.56 fps avg. sli enabled

1680x1050 all high dx9 = 35.19 fps avg. sli enabled

1920x1200 all high dx9 = 30.28 fps avg. sli enabled

I can't seem to get Riva Tuner to detect my proper clocks. When I select "performance 3D", it shows:

    Core clock: 383 MHz
    Shader clock: 767 MHz
    Memory clock: 301 MHz

When I apply overclocks at restart, nothing happens. GPU-z still shows the normal clocks: 500 MHz GPU, 799 MHz Memory, and 1250 MHz Shader.

    What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if rivatuner has ever worked for overclocking the 8800m gtx either. Only way I ever got any overclocking to work is with doing a hardware flash, which has always been easier for me.

How about minimum fps? those are - I think - very important since during heavy fighting when you need fps the most average fps doesnt really give you accurate idea.

    Thanks though

I believe his dx10 scores were at high settings not very high settings as yours were. Still, I don't understand how dx10 gave him a 65% FPS gain over dx9 in the 1900x1200 run. If this is for real I'm switching to Vista tomorrow!

ikas, can you simply run the internal benchmark utility that ships with the game instead of a 3rd party program? all you have to do is make 1 run at 1900x1200 with no aa, high settings, dx10.

    the file is here; "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Benchmark_GPU.bat"

that 3rd party program has a bug where it did not change the game's settings when i tried it for some reason and haven't tried it since.

Mine used to hit 78-79, with the 8800M GTX SLI setup, but still, as Gophn said, below 85C you`re good.
Crysis shows improvement only if you`re running a weak CPU and then upgrade to something really fast, say from a 1.8 to a 2.5. There's a guy whom upgraded from 2.5 to a 3.4 X9000 and Crysis gave him a 0 fps boost :D

I would expect Crysis to be HIGHLY GPU dependant.
But with the proper config, Crysis can look like this on 1920x1200...

In my experience, the average FPS shown in the benchmark is roughly (within 5 FPS, perhaps) the average you would get running around in the game, but I agree that minimum FPS is a very important number, and it seems to be highly sensitive to the driver used. For example, I've never seen more than a one or two average FPS difference between drivers in the 1920x1200 high settings run (30 to 32 FPS), but I've seen the minimum vary from 7 to 14 FPS, a difference that is noticeable in the game.

IKASV, how did you get Riva Tuner to work? I cannot.

Also, do you have SP1 installed? I installed it and my in-game FPS shot up like CRAZY. However, my 3DMark06 scores plummeted. I would rather in-game fps to increase. But, it is still weird why it would drop like 10 fps on the second test in 3DMark06 (the one with the two fireflies).

    Anyone?

Also, a lot of the time when my computer restarts, it hangs at the screen between the BIOS loading and the "Microsoft Corporation" word. It hangs with this cursor symbol in the top left-hand side:

    _

    just blinking...

Yes I have SP1 installed with all the other current Windows updates.
Baconcow in Riva Tuner go to driver settings, were it says ForceWare detecting click customize then click on the first box the graphic card.
Then put a checkmark in the enable driver level hardware overclocking and next to it, in the box put in performance 3D.Hope that helps.
Argh I can't find that file anywere any ideas were it might be.

I did exactly that, and it detects the values that I listed above. SP1 seemed to kill my 3DMark06 scores with SP1. Also, I have all the same numbers as you for Windows Performance, except my harddrive. My main harddrive is the same 200GB as yours, but not in RAID, because I only have one of them. Seems very weird. That, and the constant lockups at restart. I almost feel like reformatting.

Well I originally had my laptop set up in Raid 5 and reset it to Raid 0, but when I did that I had to re-install the OS and drivers again got rid of all the extra crap that I do not need on it and everything is running very smoothly.
