I just got my battery back from Sager today, and I have the same problem as I had when I got my np2090 back from them about two weeks ago now with their new BIOS.
My battery did not work on my laptop, but performed beautifully in their tests. They sent back a new one, which also does not work for me.

    Here's my situation:
-My battery will not charge on my NP2090
-The battery discharges perfectly fine, however it simply refuses to charge up.
-I am sure that windows is reporting a correct battery life.
-The battery does not charge, even with the smart battery application.

I suspect this is from the new BIOS they put into my laptop, as this happened with the previous battery which was found to be good.
I called powernotebooks.com, who referred me to sager. If it is at all possible to reflash the bios without voiding the warrantee, I would like to, however I don't know how.

    Any suggestions?

Try to PM Paladin44, he would be able to help you out. Donald is a great guy. They should be able to email you the most current BIOS to use. If that doesn't work they might clock it back one BIOS release and try that one. PM him.

i was considering getting a sager np2090. if it's just your BIOS thats screwed up, then it's not likely that my 2090 would have the same problem, right?

You should call Sager about this. They will send you the appropriate BIOS via email.

No, my original BIOS worked fine until I restarted it too quickly (I had a dual boot setup tween WinXP an Vista [I suppose just because I could?]) and then it bricked out on me. The machine is beautiful otherwise, I really pushed it hard at points and it handled things superbly up until my BIOS crapout. This doesn't seem like a common problem to me.

Wu Jen: I'll PM Donald, I forgot who I talked to tonight (Matt?) who seemed eager to push me over to Sager. They're calling me on the morrow. Thanks for the advice :)

Chaz: Sounds deceptively easy-- is reflashing a bios hard? What are the chances I'll brick out my machine again?

I updated the BIOS on my Sager and all I had to do to get the updated BIOS was email Sager.

The best advice I can give you for flashing the BIOS is follow the directions. I burned mine to CD, booted from it, and flashed like that; it is the safest way. I believe you can flash the BIOS from within Windows too, but that is more dangerous; if anything interrupts the flash utility while it is going, you could easily brick your system. You will have to send the laptop in to get it fixed. I once did that with an HP laptop.

We don't recommend flashing the BIOS indiscriminately (this is why Sager doesn't make the BIOSes for their Clevo systems publicly available), but Compal keeps a full list of the BIOS revisions at:
    http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/TechSupportDriversDownloadPage.htm#FL90

Incidentally, the site has been down since Friday morning, but they should be back up and running soon.

Yours is the first issue we've had reported, which is probably the reason Matt was so anxious to get Sager involved. Generally, a battery failing to charge is a hardware failure, rather than a BIOS issue.
