On a 15.4" laptop screen, is a resolution of 1280x800 bad? I have read the articles that are posted at this forum concerning resolutions and screen sizes, but I wanted to get your guys opinion on it. Basically, I am trying to figure out if 1280x800 is going to be a problem with doing schoolwork, surfing the net, playing the occasional game, and watching DVD's.

The IFL90 appeals to me, but then, so does the dv6500t. Both offer 1280x800, but only the IFL90 offers the matte finish upgrade of the screen in 1680x1050. Is this something I should look at?

Which begs another question. What kind of screen quality can I expect from the IFL90 with a matte screen versus glossy? Any owners of the IFL90 are more than welcome to weigh in. =)

I use the WSXGA+ matte screen, and it's of very high quality. I was considering WXGA resolution, however, changed my mind while waiting for the laptop into the WSXGA+, and I don't regret my change of heart at all. :)

The WSXGA+ (1680x1050 matte) is great. I have good eyes, so I can't really speak to the text size, but the extra screen space help when you're doing work.

the glossy screen is very good quality, just not the greatest viewing angles. not sure if it's the same for matte. i went glossy because i like the low native resolution for gaming and the richer color. also the glare is not that bad even in outdoor sunlight. plus it saved me a few bucks. but if you don't mind the money and want more desktop space to play with, matte is a good choice as well.
