My current notebook has been giving me problems for quite some time and finally died today. While I had been planning on getting a new notebook now I'm left without a computer which is quite a problem. I started looking around and it seems the NP2090 is my best option but there seems to be shipment issues. If I was to order today could I expect it reasonably soon or should I go with something else?

EDIT: Forgot to post the specs I wanted. I'd be willing to change the screen and such if that's an issue.

From what I've read in these forums, the next shipments of NP2090s with WSXGA (1680x1050) screens aren't coming until late July. So the soonest you can expect to get one if you order now is early August. I think mid-August is a more realistic estimate.

Also worth noting is that 2 GB RAM sticks are in short supply. You may want to consider a different laptop since you need a new one ASAP, or downgrade your configuration on the NP2090.

There are posts regarding the shipping times that can be expected in the Compal and Sager sections with a little digging, and they are explained for each screen resolution as well as with extras such as bluetooth and the tv tuner. I can tell you that there is not set date for WSXGA.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "reasonably soon". When do you actually need it?

Actually, the best thing to do is call the resellers.

I ended up going with the NP5970 since they started their shipments today and there's certainly nothing wrong with it (just pricier). Thanks for all the help.

    What resolution did you get?

I only ask because if you got the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) that is in your first post...those have not come in yet.

You mean NP5790, no? I can't see any 5970 anywhere. If that's the case, then the thing wrong with it is size (and weight probably). That's a deal killer for me.
